Neptunia ReVerse finally has a release date in North America, and another release date not far behind that in Europe, after releasing in Japan late last year. You'll be able to pick it up on June 8 or on June 11, depending on your relationship to the Atlantic Ocean.
According to Idea Factory, Neptunia ReVerse is an updated and enhanced version of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, which itself was a Vita (and eventually PC) port of the PlayStation 3 original. It's hard to believe things all got started way back in 2010, but I'm totally not making that up. The series really is that old.
Of course, you can't update and enhance games without adding new modes, and so it is that the next time you head through the Gamindustri (pronounced "game industry"), you'll be able to partake in a brand new finishing mini-game!
"Neptunia ReVerse is the perfect RPG entry for Neptunia newcomers and for Neptunia fans to relieve!" gushes a press release Idea Factory issued earlier today. "With the powers of the PlayStation 5, players can enjoy the world of Gamindustri with enhanced graphics and a fresh-looking system UI!"
As I recall, some of the biggest changes ReBirth1 made compared to the original game related to the interface, so it seems like that's a favorite thing for the Compile Heart team to adjust when it revisits past triumphs.
A change you might also find interesting this time around is the "Arrange Mode," which lets you choose from more than 20 characters right from the start. There's also a "Plans" system so you can craft and forge new items and equipment, add dungeons and even change what the monsters drop when you defeat them. I'll take a Super Mario Bros. invincibility star, please!
Finally, it will also be possible to bring 4 characters into battle, rather than the more limited trio that was possible before. That could lead to new strategic opportunities, I'm thinking, plus it could make it easier to wail on some bosses... unless they've also been rebalanced, because sometimes we just can't have nice things. Case in point: the PS5 you'll need to play the game. Do you have one yet?
