Death end re;Quest arrives on Nintendo Swith in North America on April 27, 2021, publisher Idea Factory announced today at the NGPX event. The game first arrived on PlayStation 4 just over two years ago, so its arrival is definitely overdue.

Available now for preorder from Limited Run Games, Death end re;Quest on Nintendo Switch includes all of the free and paid DLC previously offered on the PlayStation 4 platform. Also featured is all original content found in the port's Japanese version.

People tend to think they know just what to expect from a Compile Heart game, but Death end re;Quest mixes things up a bit and lets players experience investigative visual novels segments, alongside more traditional RPG content.

"In the game world, players brawl in engaging RPG battles!" notes today's press release. "Blast enemies and chain your attacks with the Knockback system or switch game genres from RPG into fighting, shooting, slot, puzzle, and billiards – the choice is yours. Game development may seem all fun and games until the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur."

The mix of reality and game worlds looks to keep things fresh as players make choices in both real and in-game modes that affect who lives to fight another day. A special "Glitch Mode" also allows players to enhance their stats and attacks, but with potential consequences as a result.

Death end re;Quest did well enough that a sequel followed in 2020 on PS4 and PC, but there's no word yet on whether that sequel will also reach the Nintendo Switch. Have you played either game on other hardware?
