Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalyse marches toward its Switch and PC release date next month

A 10% discount that will be offered the first week is not much, but it's still better than a poke in the eye.

Serenity Forge revealed today that the Cyanide & Happiness point-and-click adventure game is still coming and, as it so happens, will actually release on Nintendo Switch and Steam on March 11, 2021. It will retail for $19.99, but you can save 10% if you take the financial plunge during its first week of availability.

Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalyse is the first in a "tragilogy," according to the press release, which is a completely bogus word that refers to a trilogy of tragedy. Expect dark comedy, drama, and weirdness of the sort that populates the comics and other such media that built the Cyanide & Happiness license we know and love.

In the game, you play Cooper "Coop" McCarthy, a young lad who currently is attending high school and trying his best to survive it. Remember how difficult those years could be? Remember how it felt, struggling to find a prom date and avoiding homicidal bullies and doing everything in your power to avoid triggering an apocalyptic event? Well, that's the sort of stuff the game is about.

Here is a list of key features, straight from today's helpful press release:

  • All the fun of a Cyanide & Happiness animated short, all packed into a video game!

  • Fully voiced dialogue featuring special guest voice actors including Arin Hanson (Game Grumps), Jessica Calvello, YMS Adum, Rice Pirate Mick, and more.

  • The first-ever chance to interact with fan favorites from the Cyanide & Happiness universe, including Ted Bear, Shark Dad, Señor Cleanfist, and more.

  • The first installment in the Freakpocalypse “tragilogy” - a trilogy of games telling the complete tragic & chaotic story.

  • An incredibly interactive world with more than 100 bizarre characters and countless objects to look at, touch, and talk to, along with unlockable costumes to find and wear.

  • No need to know the back story— Freakpocalyse gives long-time fans a lot to look forward to, but is also the perfect introduction for anyone new to the franchise.

  • Cinematic cutscenes and a completely original soundtrack.
Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalyse already has a listing on the Nintendo eShop, though you either have to be 17 to view it or you have to be willing to lie and say you are of a sufficient age. There's also an official web site, just in case you are into that sort of thing. And honestly, I'm not here to judge.
