For those who don't know, "PAW Patrol" is an animated series for preschool children that airs on Nickelodeon. It's apparently quite popular with its target audience, which explains why Outright Games is producing a game for it and also justifies the trailer the publisher/developer unleashed online this week.

Currently planned for release on October 23, 2018, PAW Patrol: On a Roll is expected to arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. The Switch version will be available exclusively in Walmart stores, for reasons that are unclear. A 3DS edition appears to have been planned at some point, but seems to have disappeared from promotional materials and word on the street is that it has been quietly canceled.

The "PAW Patrol" cartoon centers on a variety of puppies that interact with a pleasant community. They go on missions to save friends in trouble, and to keep their community safe.

PAW Patrol: On a Roll will feature 16 rescue missions a press release describes as "exciting." There are eight locations from Adventure Bay, including a desert, Farmer Yumi's Farm, Jake's Mountain and so forth. Mild puzzle solving and simple platforming appear to be staples of the gameplay.

Obviously, PAW Patrol: On a Roll is designed with a particular audience in mind, and past releases have shown the quality on such titles can be all over the map. It's too early to say how this particular game will fare, but at least from a distance, it seems to be going through the right motions. If you'll be shopping for a preschooler this holiday season, it might be one to keep on your radar.

I'm all over this one -- the kids will love it, and I won't mind it.

It's the kind of story I would probably not have reported when the site was a lot younger, because we were all a lot younger. But now we have a lot of folks with kids in the community, and this does look like a game that should interest young players. Plus I don't think most sites will even bother to cover it, because they're still trying to appeal to primarily a younger crowd. So I'm glad you found it of interest and I hope if it winds up in your house, your kids enjoy the game. I think it looks pretty cute!
