Interested in learning more about a staff members or open staff positions on the site? This page lists any information about available staff positions, as well as profiles for each staff member.

Staff Openings

We are always looking for qualified candidates who would like to join our freelance teams, but we can't pay anyone for the hard work those positions require. If you don't mind writing in exchange for occasional free games and exposure--and if you're both skilled and highly motivated--then we definitely want to hear from you. When you contact us, include the following:

• A brief bio. Describe what you feel that you bring to the table and how that would fit in with the current site (and possibly even enhance it).
• The state or province where you reside. We work primarily with publishers in North America and the UK, so we need writers from those regions. If you are qualified and live in Japan and need an outlet for your reviews of those import titles, we also want to hear from you.
• A list of the current-generation systems you own. If you are interested in PC gaming, please let us know how current your hardware is.
• Information about the genres and franchises you most love (and most hate). This information will let us know if you can help fill any gaps in our coverage. Please be honest, since the info you provide will likely impact the games you are assigned.
• Links to some of your previews or reviews already posted online. These should showcase your current writing abilities and we hope that you will choose reviews that demonstrate how your writing will fit in well with our current team. If you haven't posted any work online, then please create an account (if you don't have one already) and submit some reader reviews to this site. Then you can link to those and our readers can get to know you that much sooner!

We wish we could survive without EmP, but he’s long since become a necessary evil we endure rather than enjoy. We thought we got rid of him once, but he quickly rose back to power, like a British Mickey Rourke, just with laser breath and nasty habits like constant complaining and overt meanness. When he’s not penning reviews on anything from cutting-edge next-gen titles to long-forgotten Mega CD games (he makes us refer to all consoles by their PAL name and spell 'colour' with the 'u') he can be found lurking in dark corners with a sly smirk and what we fear might be a tin of gasoline and a box of matches. Please help us keep him busy. Our homes may depend on it!

When someone like overdrive asks if he can join site staff, you have to ask yourself the same question he did: "Why not?" So when overdrive did ask, our answer was the very same question: "Why not?" It doesn't hurt that overdrive brings with him some insane knowledge about old shooters and various other scraps of the retro realm. It doesn't hurt at all!

Sho brings with him a true knowledge of some of the most obscure games around, as well as a passion for sharing that information with others adrift in the sea of knowledge that is the Internet (note: Jason created that horrific metaphor, not poor sho). As such, he's a natural for an HG staff position. Look to him when no one else knows. He probably has the answers.

Woodhouse bided his time as a regular site contributor for years. Now, like Julius Caesar grasping control of the Roman Republic, he's seized the vaunted title of Staff Member. Let's just hope Wood can avoid being assassinated by his associates. (Watch your back, dude.) With a steady regimen playing rhythm games, SRPGs, and basically anything else that comes his way, he should maintain the reflexes and wit to survive for a little while. No promises.

The username 'zigfried' has perhaps never been more appropriate than it is in the case of our beloved staff member, Zigfried. Named after the enigmatic Zigfried from Earnest Evans, this reviewing tour de force knows games. You are asked to be courteous and not contact staff members over any trivial detail that comes to mind. Some have more time to answer your questions than others, so bear that in mind.
