Revelations: Persona (PlayStation) review

"When you went into a random battle, you could ''talk'' to the monster, and sort of become friends with it. It was an innovative idea, but very stupid. I didn't like it one bit. This was a major turn-off for me, and probably would be the same for other RPG-ers."

This game is weird... really weird. And that's not really in a good way. It's terribly long, and can get extremely boring after a while. The storyline is basically crap, and the gameplay is tedious. This isn't your run-of-the-mill RPG--in a bad way.

First there are the graphics, which really aren't too bad. For their time, they might actually be considered fairly good. There's nothing really ''3D'' here, but it all looks ok. I seem to remember a few cutscenes here and there, but the quality wasn't too good.

The sound in this game was hardly noticable. Really typical stuff. Maybe even slightly below average. The voice acting during battle was painful to hear, and just downright stupid. I hardly even noticed the sound as I was playing this game. A real bore.

The story in this game was ok. Nothing that really kept me wanting for more, though. I'll talk about the gameplay a little as well... When you went into a random battle, you could ''talk'' to the monster, and sort of become friends with it. It was an innovative idea, but very stupid. I didn't like it one bit. This was a major turn-off for me, and probably would be the same for other RPG-ers. And in some parts, it went into first-person mode, which is absolute crap in an RPG. The story didn't take the game to new heights, and neither did the gameplay.

The game was relatively easy, but some parts were hard. I found a lot of searching around the town, looking for a place that I just couldn't find. What can I say? It was a big bore.

Really, this game wasn't much fun at all. And that's to say the least. It features over 100 hours of gameplay, but none of them are very compelling; they're simply boring. The whole game is so repetetive.

Persona just isn't a good game. It's got average graphics and sound, boring gameplay and a boring storyline, and is extremely long. It's hardly any fun to play at all, and if I were you, I wouldn't even think of getting this game. Although I can see how some die hard RPG-ers might want to check this one out, they would probably end up hating it after a while. This is NOT a keeper. A big let-down. DO NOT GET IT.

Those who don't care for First Person Shooters should probably look elsewhere, as it can make an unprepared person dizzy and aggravated. I highly recommend “Bioshock 2.”
