The Granstream Saga (PlayStation) review"You see the enemies, then you battle them. The battle engine is an over-and-behind view, and it plays kind of like a fighting game. The control is horrible, because your character walks painfully slow, and it's hard to turn." |
Ho-hum... This game sucks. When I first saw the preview for it in a magazine, I thought it looked really cool--I couldn't ever be more wrong! In the magazine, I drooled over the Anime cutscenes, and thought that the battle system looked cool. When I rented it (I never actually bought it), I found it to be far below average.
The graphics in this game are ok. The polygonal characters look good, except they don't have facial expressions, which makes the game so much more dull. The anime cutscenes are ok too, although the horrible voice acting makes them even worse. Spells look alright, but nothing really phenomenal. The graphics in this game were average, and broke no barriers on the psx.
The Fighting system in this is kind of strange... You see the enemies, then you battle them. The battle engine is an over-and-behind view, and it plays kind of like a fighting game. The control is horrible, because your character walks painfully slow, and it's hard to turn. It's very hard to walk up to an enemy, attack, and run away in time to be safe, due to the SLOW battle engine.
The sound in this game was totally unmemorable. In fact... I don't even remember it :) The music is dull and repetetive. And the voice acting is laughable.
This game is crap, all in all. I rented it, played it for a few hours, and then returned it. My review may not be totally accurate though... the game might actually get better in later stages, but from what I played, it was horrible, and wouldn't be, by any means, worth buying.
