Vandal Hearts (PlayStation) review

"They're very flat looking, and after playing FFT, it was sometimes hard for me to even see the characters and tell them apart on the battle map. There are no cutscenes, and the graphics are basically the biggest downfall in this game. Boring, sloppy, and not by any means eye-pleasing."

A game much like Final Fantasy Tactics which is shorter, has worse graphics, worse sound, worse characters, is not as hard, and worse well... everything. This isn't by any means a bad game, and FFT got a lot of its ideas from this, but if you played FFT before this, and are expecting something just as good or better than it, look elsewhere.

The graphics in this game really aren't good at all. They're very flat looking, and after playing FFT, it was sometimes hard for me to even see the characters and tell them apart on the battle map. There are no cutscenes, and the graphics are basically the biggest downfall in this game. Boring, sloppy, and not by any means eye-pleasing.

The sound in this game, though, was fairly good. Nothing to drop your jaw at here, but quality stuff. The battle music and stuff is catchy, and it fits the mood well. As I said before, though, nothing to go ga-ga over. Not anything like that of FFT.

The storyline in this game is good. The characters are pretty good, and so is the gameplay. The system they use is much like the ''job'' system used in FFT, but much more limited--much more. You can basically pick the main ''class'' that your character gets to be. Priest, lancer, archer, etc... and there are a few ranks in these classes. Pretty limited, but still good.

This game wasn't challenging enough for me! After playing FFT, I just literally zoomed through this game. I hardly ever died; I felt like a master tactician when I played this (even though I'm not). It was still fun, though.

The fun factor is easily the pinnacle of the game! It was so fun and addictive that I beat it in 2 days! Yep! That's right (is feeling proud). Even though it was easy, and the graphics weren't great, and neither is the sound, it turns out to be an extremely addictive game! I played it all the time.

This game doesn't score too high in the graphics, sound, and storyline deparments, but it's got it where it really counts! The fun factor! It's REALLY fun. I would score this game down in the 7's, if it weren't so damn fun! But, it is fun, so I'd have to say it deserves more than that--not to mention I picked it up over a year ago for $12. Well worth it!

Those who don't care for First Person Shooters should probably look elsewhere, as it can make an unprepared person dizzy and aggravated. I highly recommend “Bioshock 2.”
