Yeah, seen a lot of those before. It's a lot better than the normal comic.

Another strategy I've seen is to simply delete Garfield's thought bubbles, but I like this approach better. The comic goes from being something terrible to something... brilliant.

I've always liked Garfield (though I did stop collecting the comics when it became too obvious that all jokes had been done). Nonetheless, these experiments work out disturbingly well.

Garfield Minus Garfield always struck me as kinda depressing. Poor John =/

I'm glad I enjoyed Garfield as a kid before I was old enough to know how derivative it was. I also saw the version of GwoG missing just the thought bubbles. The comparison between that and this is interesting.

Garfield did, however, inspire the utterly hilarious Bill the Cat of Bloom County. I didn't realize how biting the satire was meant to be until I reread it a few years ago.

I've never seen anyone break down Heathcliff on a consistent basis, either, but it might be worth trying.

It's good to have this sort of thing about comic strips that really deserve it, like Marmaduke Explained or Deconstructing Mallard Fillmore. And I still get a snicker out of Dysfunctional Family Circus though it can get to be too much too quickly.

Maybe people saw a lot of these links already, but for those who missed even one I think it's worth it.

There's a similar project that takes xkcd comics and removes any female stick figures.

I always thought the best Family Circus would be a round comic bubble with nothing in it.

It would be a huge improvement.

By the way, Aschultz...

Amazing... thank you.
