Anyone else remember Lone Wolf by Joe Dever?
July 07, 2009

I've been part of the restoration group for those books for nigh on six years now. Our original glorious site has gone the way of the dodo, sadly, but we're still a strong community on proboards.

Actually, there's only about 15 of the original 100 left, and those left have pretty much talked the topic to death. Still, we role play in Magnamund all the time and for those of you who enjoyed the books as children, you should know that we helped get them republished (with all new rewrites by Dever himself!) through Mongoose publishing.

Anyways, seeing that bit on Fighting Fantasy brought it to mind.

Republished? With Joe Dever involved? Now that's awesome.

And whole new sections. Let me drop you a link

And of course, I hope you've been to Project Aon, where you can read all the old books online for free in HTML format.

Search for a bit, and you may even find my name pop up in the world of Lone Wolf.

In multiple languages, even!

I've heard the name before but never read/played any of them. I do have my share of Fighting Fantasy books, though.

again I point you, then, to Project Aon, where they are freely available... for free... freely.

I'll bookmark it when I'm home, but I can't guarantee anything beyond that. Those eight Fighting Fantasy books I bought in a shiny new edition last year? Still on the shelf, with only Warlock of Firetop Mountain played briefly but not finished.

I did the same thing, incidentally! It's hard to revisit your youth. It's never around to greet you.

I had a few of them growing up, but that Project Aon site helped me re-visit the series without dramatically cheating (to always have the Sommersword, since I didn't have the book where you get it growing up.

I think I went through the first 3-4 books, but lost interest. Knowing my sporadic nature, I'll get the urge to pick them back up again and hopefully will still have the text file serving as my inventory/stat pages on my computer so I can pick up where I left off.
