I used to read this in Eugene when I was feeling down. It's my all time favourite "worst DM" story.
Enjoy!

randxian - May 06, 2009 (11:52 PM) This is why I stopped playing D&D. Too many people forget the whole point is to socialize and simply have F-U-N. Everything doesn't have to be friggin perfect and exact, and nitpickers like this ruin it completely. That and I was pissed when one DM made us play in this piece of shit world called Harn or Karn or something. It was difficult, but difficult in a frustrating way and for all the wrong reasons. He went out of his way to make sure we were at a disadvantage the whole time. I should've thrown that asshole out the window. So if a DM ever wants you to play that goddamn forsaken world, don't. |

sashanan - May 08, 2009 (04:48 AM) Hilarious article. The subject's e-mailed rebuttal is surprisingly mild in that it addresses one or two tangents and doesn't respond at all to the hundred or more indications of a more than slightly creepy individual. My only tabletop RPG experience comes from the sessions my brother DM's, but that's never D&D. He is of the minimal rules variety, with a heavy focus on story development and very few moments that the dice come out at all. |
