Unique and mostly forgettable.

wolfqueen001 - March 10, 2009 (07:08 PM) So your name's Jonathan Stark now?! I feel so betrayed.. Haha. Anyway, this was interesting. I'd heard mostly good things about Watchmen, so it's always good to see a different opinion. However, I honestly, from reading that review, can't really grasp concretely where you're coming from, and this mainly has to do with the fact that you don't really provide any direct examples as to why you think the way you did. The examples you do use describe the good parts, characters, and novel aspects well, but I didn't really see anything to support the bad side of things besides what you say. But maybe this contributes to the fact that I haven't actually read the comics (blasphemy!). Or maybe you didn't want to spoil too much. I dunno. Also, this is cringe-worthy: and the two mediums require different approaches Media, man - media! |

zippdementia - March 10, 2009 (07:39 PM) Thanks for the feedback, WQ. You're right about mediums. I always forget the plural of that is media. |

bloomer - March 11, 2009 (05:13 AM) Now it says 'medias' :) Also, you didn't spell 'Akerman' right. Once the pedants start up, it's hard to stop them. I can sorta see what WQ is saying. I guess it's missing some more specifics as to why it was bad to be so slavish to the comic in this case. My own take on 'From Hell' was that it was poor-ish. I know this all sounds pretty negative, but whatever I didn't comment on, I thought was fine ;) |
