LOL HG troll
September 02, 2008

Knowing staff is fun. Look what turned up in the review queue this morning...

Someone actually wrote this:

Tagline: great game

review: awsome, very creative.

Now isn't this a fabulous waste of time? Seriouslly, no one should come here and expect that to be accepted. So there can be no other explanation. The review author is a troll.

But hey. Least he didn't write this:

LOL DIS GR8 G4M kthxbai

One time Golden Vortex & I wrote a review for Wii Sports that was literally just AIM conversations about how dumb the game is. We submitted it pretty much sure that it'd get rejected and guess what IT DID! I suggested we do it so we could post it as a blog entry and brag about its rejection.

It's not really a waste of time. I mean how long does it take to write that, a whole 10 seconds?

Epic.

I'm not so sure it was a troll. During my short stint as site staff I dealt with a laughably large amount of half-written reviews like that. Some sites such as play-asia have "Reviews" that users can write, and many of them are as half-assed as the one you've posted above. It's actually possible that the author wasn't fucking with anyone... As absurd as that may seem.

Yeah, we mention GameFAQs all the time like it's the height of user review mediocrity, when at least they have a (superficial) code of honor. It's places like Play-Asia and GameSpot that really allow the users to submit, you know, anything.

Sportsman: I'm very glad you asked that! =D It's a waste of time because it's pointless. It serves no purpose at all except to potentially amuse some of the staff around here, not all of whom may find such nonsense amusing. While it only takes a few seconds to write something that drab, and only a few seconds more for staff to reject, it's a waste of time because instead of being a real, true, honest effort, it's a load of crap. Those ten seconds could be better spent doing something else. Subbing something more useful, more worthwile. Instead of reading pointless (though amusing) one-line sentences... no fragments that don't even deserve the title of review.

Still, it was very entertaining. I hope to see more of those, despite my argument of what a frivelous waste of time it is. =D

As to the rest, I... really do find it hard to believe that someone can think that acceptable. But... Well, I guess you never know. =/ And I thought Gamespot was in league with GFs... so they'd have the same standard or something...? I dunno how that works, though.

.....That site's a joke.

Those read more like half-assed game-discussion forums/blogs than reviews.... I mean.... I guess it's Ok if you're just looking for quick info or something, but ugh...

But at least most of those are better than the guy I posted about... except for the one at the bottom... He sucks.

They all suck.

I'm going home. >_>

This would be the part where I'd say "I told you so," but I think I need to tend to the brain damage you received from reading those "reviews" first.
