Fire Emblem: Awakening will have paid DLC
According to a report from Nikkei, Nintendo may be bringing paid DLC to the 3DS as soon as March. The first game that will be able to take advantage of this will be the 3DS Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem Kakusei. Fire Emblem: Awakening is a translation of the title.
Coming as no surprise, 3DS owners will be able to pay for DLC via credit card or special pre-paid cards. The report also claims that the Wii U will also allow for paid DLC when it releases.
However, though the report mentions DLC starting in March, Nintendo just announced a planned release date for Fire Emblem: Awakening on April 19th. DLC was not confirmed in this announcement, so it is perhaps best to take Nikkei's claims with a bit of salt.
Fire Emblem: Awakening will be the thirteenth entry in the franchise, and the first completely new Fire Emblem game since Radiant Dawn in 2007. It features team-up attacks and a world map. Sadly, there is yet to be a planned release date announced for a US version of the game.
