Dark Souls Hidetaka Miyazaki Lost in Translation
Don't worry, you'll still die a lot.
In a recent interview for Metro, Dark Souls game director Hidetaka Miyazaki was somehow lost in translation; he never spoke of a plan to dumb down the punishing difficulty for the casual market.
It's no dark secret that Dark Souls isn't a game for everyone, and Miyazaki himself was directly quoted on this admittance: "This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about whether I should prepare another difficulty that everyone can complete or carefully send all gamers the messages behind our difficult games."
Naturally, a legion of excitable fans deemed this misquote an unwise design decision and Namco Bandai later cleared the air or prevented more bloodshed, depending on who you ask.
"This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about how to make everyone complete the game while maintaining the current difficulty and carefully send all gamers the messages behind it," is apparently the correct version of the story.
When you have a special edition titled "Prepare to Die," you had better deliver.
