New Super Mario Bros. 2 will have DLC, will cost coins, internet will cry
Nintendo has announced that the upcoming 3DS sequel to New Super Mario Bros. will have post-launch paid DLC.
The DLC comes in the form of Challenge mode levels. Challenge mode has players play through three consecutive levels on one life, rushing to get as many coins as possible, as quickly as possible. High scores are saved and shared through StreetPass.
Naturally, the internet has already decided that all DLC is a scam, but if you feel like spending a few coins to extend your New Super Mario Bros. 2 experience, you might be waiting a while. Work on the new stages won't start until the game is completed.
This isn't the first Nintendo game to offer paid DLC. The recent 3DS Fire Emblem game (which is already out in Japan, and will be hitting North America next year) has DLC characters and missions.
