This is going to be a good year for games, perhaps one of the better ones to date. The bad news is that a lot of folks expect next year to turn bad because the number of games that entered development after the economic recession will have dropped. We're probably in for a few lean years after this one if they're right, unless the reason for Nintendo's limited first-party output lately is that the company is prepping a bunch of secret games for Wii or a theoretical successor.

During the last depression, entertainment was the only business that seemed to flourish, whether it was bowling, film, or drinking. In fact, did you know that the highest grossing business during the depression (and I'm talking in the millions of dollars a year) was miniature golf? Fact.
