in ten years, i hope video games don't completely go the way of digital distribution where the physical medium becomes obsolete. yes, it's quick and it's easy. it saves shelf space and makes you appear less geeky but there's something about buying games digitally that makes the whole process seem effortless and boring. whereas if you were to buy a game at a store, not only do you have to make the effort to go to the store, once you arrive you have to make the effort to ask but then you may or may not even be guaranteed to come back home with a copy! you may mutter obscenities under your breath if the outcome wasn't a success but hey if you managed to score the last copy in your hands, doesn't it make the game all the worth playing? all you think about now is eagerly tearing away the factory wrapper off your newly bought minted game and popping it in your game console while you're waiting in line to pay...now that takes a lot of effort..

honestgamer - May 10, 2009 (01:59 PM) I'm old-fashioned, too! I love having a physical copy. Though I have to admit... Xbox Live Arcade is pretty cool. If I had to do that for every full-sized game that I wanted to play, though, I think I'd revolt. Waiting for an Xbox Live Arcade download is bad enough, and what if the HD fails? Even if there's a backup plan, it's a pain in the butt compared to the ease of popping the disc in a different machine.
