WTF @ the ending. i did not expect that. you know how the final boss of almost every action game is supposed to be the stereotypical sinister evil dude in a mask and cape or some big ugly repulsive monster? well....all i can say is this game ended in a weird way. i say that in a good and bad way.
the bad: as a game the action gets weak towards the end
the good: conceptually this game will fuck with your expectations especially towards the middle to the end where some sequences will throw you off more than once. some thrilling, some lame, but hey you can't knock No More Heroes for trying something different at the risk of pissing people off.
this game started off as a 9 but now i'm feelin an 8. i still enjoyed the ride nonetheless and wouldn't mind replaying it again on the harder difficulty levels and collecting stuff.

Felix_Arabia - February 02, 2008 (09:38 PM) I wouldn't mind reading some spoilers on why NMH gets weird at the end. |

jiggs - February 02, 2008 (11:08 PM) well in the end, Travis was supposed to fight this masked villain called Dark Star who is some Darth Vader wannabe that turned out to be Travis' father. so he helps Travis remember why he became an assassin, it was to avenge his parents but he couldn't remember who killed them. blood relations didn't stop Travis from wanting to be the #1 ranked assassin. just as the fight between Travis and Dark Star was getting underway, a mysterious girl comes from behind and puts a hole through Dark Star with her fist. then the game does a fast-forward when she explains who she is. that part i didn't get.... Sylvia Cristel was a con artist setting up these fights for Travis so he could meet against his parent's killer which is that girl, while Sylvia disappears and makes off with all the entry fee money Travis sent to the United Assassin's Association. the UAA doesn't exist. Travis unfortunately doesn't get to "do her" in the end as promised. travis becomes #1 and goes back to his motel. he goes to the toilet and sits down. his privacy gets invaded when a lesser-ranked assassin slices his way into the bathroom. THE END. 3rd ranked fight, you fight a old granny with a 1000 foot beam cannon; 2nd to last fight, an alcoholic bitch with a baseball bat and bipolar, and the last fight of course is the kickboxing bitch who killed Travis' father. it seemed pretty weird to me and felt a little unsastisfying going against 3 girl fights in a row and there is 5 in all throughout the game. i was thinking how this is the ultimate chick-beating game. haha not really... well, there ya go. SPOILERS :) |

star_raoul - February 03, 2008 (09:45 AM) You didn't watch the "real ending"? I didn't watch the regular ending--does Travis die when the assassin bursts in? |

jiggs - February 03, 2008 (10:52 AM) in the regular ending the scene just cuts off when the assassin comes in, so presumably he might of die. i just got done playing it just now and got the tsubaki 3 and the real ending makes me feel alot better about the game. cool fight and cool cutscene. |
