one of my worst fears as a gamer
December 09, 2007

not being able to play or having anything to do with video games anymore due to age, circumstance or some unforseen event.

there was only one time when i barely played any video games for an entire year. that was during 2001-2002 where i spent little to none hours as opposed to the 6 to 8 hour average of years past. i just got burnt out from playing too much and found other hobbies that took it's place.
despite that, i still kept tabs on video game news and events so i wasn't completely out of the loop. all in all, i've dedicated 20 years of my life to this and i wonder just how much longer i can keep at it before i succumb to another inevitable burn out. i think as long as the quality of games are good, and i still have the energy to play them i could game for another 20 years.

That doesn't scare me at all. If you get to the point where you have no interest, then there is no point in continuing. This has happened to me with numerous hobbies throughout my life. I skateboarded from the age of 6 to 20, until I tried riding BMX. Within the month, I had completely made the switch. I get a little nostalgic now and then, but that happens with all good memories, and in general I have no regrets.

There is no sense in dedicating your life to something you don't want to do.

I put listening & getting more music ahead of video games.
