The summer tournament may not have swung in our full favor, but considering some setbacks, I'm glad that we placed where we did.
Jason and Felix were great to work with and I'll even go so far as to say that they taught me a lot. Over the span of six weeks I managed to pump out a single, new review. Not an extraordinary feat under usual circumstances, but I feel like I accomplished a lot.
Both J & F went completely out of their way on numerous occasions in order to make sure that things were getting through to me. Taking into account my dull intellect and the fact that I should have understood most of what they were saying from the get-go. . . you have two truly patient people.
Only one review; sure. This one review, though, is the culmination of what essentially amounted to a summer-long crash course in the basics of better reviewing.
It was a cool experience - I'm very proud of my single triumph (even if I lost) and very grateful of my two teammates. Thanks a bunch guys!
Pretty soon (hopefully) I'll have more to show for all the effort you put into making me not suck - as bad as I did.

Felix_Arabia - September 05, 2007 (11:41 AM) Crush, I'm confident that you have the balls to get better. You just need to whip 'em out and beat people with them (though don't do that to me). |

Genj - September 05, 2007 (12:15 PM) I totally forgot I was still judging that. |

honestgamer - September 05, 2007 (12:22 PM) It's almost like it doesn't matter now that the best team somehow got disqualified. ;-) I only work with people I think can and want to improve, Crush, and I worked with you because I saw promise on both counts. Continue working to improve. Post on the forums about reviews and definitely leave feedback for stuff others write. That's a fantastic way to get a feel for different writing styles, and what works and doesn't in a review (something I think you have a ways to go on, still). I was doing okay as a writer, but I didn't really start to improve until I started reading and critiquing others. It's the best way to learn yourself, plus you make friends because most people love the feedback. WIN! |
