i saw a poll earlier for fps of the year the choices were Crysis obox bio shock halo 3 cod4 to my amazement halo 3 wins by a significant amount over every thing with obox the closest with only about 11% less votes with games like bio shock and crysis only getting about 9% of the vote granite no one can play crysis without some beast ass rig it still really bothers me this wasnt the first time ive seen the same results with halo 3 garnering some kind of goy award when clearly games like bio shock, crysis and cod 4 are clearly better games to me they truly raise the bar in fps games forge is still a neat toy for console gamers but dosent even compare to the editing functions in pc games im not even saying halo 3 is a bad game it just does nothing for me on the 360 its still excactly like halo released in 2001 for the xbox great game now 6 years later its just shinier bigger some weapon tweaks and you can play against people but i honestly dont give a shit about multiplayer(gears is bangin though)its just an updated fan service not a game designed to push the 360 to the limits and still has nothing on valves masterpiece hl2 and just plain not as good as games like bio shock crysis or cod 4 games utilizing full next gen power not commercial sucsess.

I'm really not feeling Bioshock right now. It feels like they took System Shock 2, swaped some names around then made if much, much easier. I really like the game and all, but it's not the best FPS of the year.

Of the games you mentioned, I've only played Halo 3 and Bioshock, so that'll be why Halo 3 would get my vote. I hear great things about CoD4 and that's comfortably beating Halo 3 on the current Gamefaqs poll.

Halo 3 is by far the least interesting game on the list. I voted for Call of Duty 4, myself.

Halo 3 is the only one I've played, and I didn't vote for it. Got the game for free, and it so far seems to be the first game with better graphics, though the first level is nowhere near as bad as the first level from Halo 1.

Halo 3 rocks!

Halo 3 is way better than the first but I voted for Crysis. I still haven't played Episode 2 and Call of Duty 4 so I can't judge those and Bioshock, quite frankly is disappointing. It's pretty cool but nowhere near as good as System Shock 2.

The System Shock 2 references are starting to bother me. Bioshock is derivative, but so many improvements and refinements were made in so many areas, not too mention the completely different setting and story. 99% of the greatest and most popular games are derivative, but when 2K Boston does it, everyone starts clawing at their back.

Strange, considering that the world spent the past decade begging for a sequel.

I don't shit on BioShock for being like System Shock 2 or Deus Ex. I shit on it for being like them but dumber such that any of the style's unique elements become bloat.

"hey, you can carry 500 of everything, but pick every item up one by one anyway!"

"hey, you have to become proficient at a minigame to hack, except an untrained retard could win it every time and the choice only comes down to if you've got the patience!"

"hey, you can develop different skills or just shoot all the motherfuckers!"

"hey, there's a big ethical choice but everything works out the same way no matter what you do! in fact, the more appealing option turns out to give you more stuff!"

the art design, theme, and Rapture itself are lovely, though. the plot I'm ambivalent about. great twist 2/3 through, but the pacing was horrible and the endgame lets things down.

I don't like that I can't die. Or rather, dying isn't a setback at all. Before I realised this, the battles were cool and I would use my mad FPS skillz to great effect. Now I just stand in the open and plug things because should I fall, who cares?

I remember scoffing at the point made in ZeroPuncuation about how you hack cameras by jumping at them and mashing a key which makes you float in mid-air while the enemies around wait politely. Scoffed, I did -- but it happens!

Here's the thing, I'm enjoyiong Bioshock plenty, but that doesn't mean there aren't flaws in the game big enough to reverse an artic truck through.
