Alright, so Google announced that beginning this December it will delete old, unused Gmail accounts, seemingly over two years old and so it goes. Personally, I don't see the point to this other than to continue to annoy anyone who ever bothered to create such and just keep making it a miserable experience to even take them seriously anymore.
And since it's google we're talking about here, there is a guarantee that they will continue making such outlandish decisions, to the point of even just deleting accounts without any other excuses given. I really do not trust them and had pretty much stop using other services of theirs like uploading to youtube altogether. The latter because such site has become quite insufferable ever since google got it's grimy hands on it.
Even if they won't go that far, I had taken steps on using other providers as my email client, and am updating on any account online so I may not lose access to them if I lose any of those Gmail things. Better safe than sorry.
I suggest any reading this to do the same and back up anything you may had saved using said accounts.
As for me, the only account I have is to subscribe to youtube channels and nothing else. I am not bothering with google otherwise nor am trusting them with anything else as well. Quite def up with them.
Update-
Seems I have lost the opportunity to change email addresses on my Nintendo account since I cannot access some gmail account that the jerks of google decided to lock. In order to recuperate it I must get a code to a phone number I no longer use. If those hacks decide to go with their nonsense I'm not sure if I'll be able to access all digital games that I've bought plus back up saved data that could be added back to my Switch and continue games. There are no reasons not to kick google in the head about this.

honestgamer - November 17, 2023 (05:30 PM) Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware Google was doing such a thing. I do use my Google account fairly often for attached apps around the web, but I've never bothered creating a proper Gmail account. |
