Nintendo unveils Metroid Dread at E3
June 15, 2021

Nintendo surprised all with a new Metroid game shown at E3, and not just any Metroid game either, a SEQUEL to the original series, continuing Samus' story after the events of Metroid Fusion so it seems. But don't quote me on that, because it still clear if this is a sequel or a prequel on the established canon, however the way Samus looks here, sporting a suit similar to her last space outing in the GBA, it would come to reason that it is indeed a sequel overall.

The trailer shows a tantalizing cutscene of Samus dealing with a brand new foe stalking her throughout not unlike X-Samus did in Fusion, as well as the fact that Samus cannot hurt it seemingly and must resort to stealth tactics in order to survive its encounters. Samus can also do some melee attacks, although not as fancy as the ones in Other M, but looking more effective in this game in my opinion. The trailer also shows gameplay footage in 2D, pretty reminiscent of games of old and even mysteroius characters like an alien-looking alien on a computer board shown briefly. Wonder if this would be friend or foe in here.

So far positive reactions towards the new Metroid Dread trailer with the occasional blatant, childish insulting comments here and there. Sorry to say the hate they try to convey isn't enough to douse the hype around it. Seems Metroid 5 could become a definite success.
