Revisiting Final Fantasy (NES)
March 03, 2021

Had started a playthrough of the original Final Fantasy using an all Red Mage party, first thinking on using White Mages as to challenge what others had done before, but after some thought I had decided to use the aforementioned class, being that they cover most of other classes in terms of magic and physical combat, but also because they look so darn cool as well.

While they are not that accurate in physical attacks, they are pretty agile, being able to dodge most attacks from foes. The Red Mage class can't acquire most of the Black and White spells offered and can only equip bare minimum when it comes to weapons and armor, but that is what makes it challenging in my opinion, Red Mages are the equivalent of a sampler dish at a restaurant, offering a bit of everything from other classes.

So far the journey has been a bit grueling this being the case, but I am pushing through till I beat the game using this party.

An even greater challenge would be having an all THIEF class group, being that to me its the worst class ever in that game considering the only upside to them is that they're hard to hit and able to run from most battles, all without anything else making them stand out. Guess I'll see if I will be up for that challenge as well.

All Red Mage isn't too bad. Are you going to promote them to Red Wizards? Red Mages a pretty decent until mid- and end-game. They have a lot more utility in the Origins and Dawn of Souls remakes.

You're right about thrives. Their best ability is becoming a ninja!

I've only attempted one single class run--four black mages. It wasn't too bad, but I lost steam around the Volcano.

I am currently at the last leg of the game but need to prepare better in order to finish the game up. Yeah, promoted them to Red Wizards too.
