Castlevania Dominus Collection (Switch) artwork

Castlevania Dominus Collection (Switch) review

"You can play the classic trilogy today, if you like."

Konami might not be actively developing a lot of new experiences, but the publisher has an amazing back catalog of great games and it's not afraid to use it. Sometimes it even uses that back catalog well, like today when it announced Castlevania Dominus Collection, a Switch release that gathers three of the better games in the series on one new platform.

The compilation includes the DS trilogy of Castlevania games, as well as Haunted Castle Revisited. The latter is described on the game's listing as "an redesigned version of the very first Castlevania arcade game." The original format is also included, in case you're a purist.

The original DS trilogy included Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. I've linked to each of their game profile pages here on the site, as we wrote a bit about each of them at the time of their release and you might as well enjoy those ancient words of wisdom.

Castlevania Dominus Collection is available today on the eShop for $24.99 USD, and it would make a great addition to Castlevania Advance Collection and Castlevania Anniversary Collection, which you may already own.

At this point, the main games in the series that you can't get on Nintendo Switch are the N64 duds (which I still wouldn't mind seeing) and the sometimes underwhelming (but still sometimes neat) PS2 titles. After that, there are the MercurySteam titles, and then Konami basically gave up on publishing games for a bit. Maybe we'll see another collection or two in the near future to finish things up?

A remade classic offers 50 hours of bliss with some unfortunate grinding at the end. Is it worth your time?
