I just wanted to point out that the FF7 review has gained 168 views in a day, passing some reviews that have been up for months.

I'm telling you... it's a good one to have on your resume.

Bash review, here I come.

I don't think you could ever successfully dispute the things I've said about the game, which are what makes it awesome to most people. The best you could do is build a case for how the framework of these things are shoddy or antiquated.

But it still wouldn't be addressing my main point, which is that it has a dark story that appeals.

Indeed it does. The trouble with FF7 is not that it's bad. The trouble is that some (very vocal) people place it on a pedestal as the greatest video game in video game history.

As for your review...actually on further reflection, I don't have a problem with your review. It may be lacking in meat, but that's because it's a re-release of another game about which there isn't a whole lot more to be said. On that note I'd be very interested to see what you had to say in an in-depth review of FF7 if you're ever up to it.

Oh, and you should be on MSN more so we can have real-time conversations.

Yes, I'll start logging on more.

An in-depth review of FF7 would go something along the lines of telling people they should really set their battle system to "active." I believe that of all ATB games. I don't understand why people set the system to "wait."

"I don't think you could ever successfully dispute the things I've said about the game, which are what makes it awesome to most people. "

And this is exactly why FF7 and its fans garner so much hostility. You (FF7 fans) act like it's perfect in every way and the game has no flaws whatsoever.

If you enjoy the game, fantastic. Maybe some of us didn't.

Personally, I think it's a good game, but nowhere near the best video game of all time. I think the smug attitude of the fans ticks more people off than the game itself.

Have you read my review, Rand? I'm not saying you HAVE to love the game. All I'm saying is that the people who do love the game, I believe, love it for the reasons I've mentioned because, frankly, everything else is 12 years old.

And the things I've mentioned are just facts about the game. I believe that my review is extremely UNBIASED, even with the high score.

Presenting facts doesn't make something unbiased. The bias shows in which facts are chosen to be presented, and the conclusions formed from those facts.

A truly unbiased review would either be enormously long (and therefore useless), or extremely vapid (and therefore useless). Reviewers shouldn't strive to be unbiased, because that's like striving for failure. Reviewers should strive to be reasonable, coherent, and justified.

Your review is hugely biased, and that's why I like it. Someone who was truly unbiased would get hung up on other stuff (see Spaceworlder's blog for examples of some things that don't make sense in FF7) and would never be able to condense their thoughts into the review that you've written. Bias and focus go hand-in-hand.

Okay, read the review. Haven't finished the game, but I suppose the description is pretty accurate.

It's obvious even from this review that Cloud is far from a likable character. I find it hard to get behind someone like that. Yes, I'm happy they tried to break the mold, but this didn't do it for me.

Bahaha, okay MoreHonestGamer.

Hey, Suskie, you got to give me the occasional chance to try and flex my muscles a bit. There is a lady present. Even if it means I do come off looking like a pompous ass ^_^
