An interesting game of sorts. The point is to drop down on your balloon, and pop your opponents balloons before they do the vice-versa to you. This is a very old game, and yet it was easily one of the best games for the NES, until at least it's later years. It was an interesting idea, with great gameplay.
GRAPHICS (8/10): The graphics are fairly nice, as you are a guy with two balloons. The opponents are all identical, but you must also give credit to the age. The screen is fairly nice to look at, and although without a detailed background it still sits well with the gamer.
SOUND (7/10): Early nintendo means that there was only one soundtrack to the entire game. Actually, there is two for the different stages in the middle of it. But basically there is only one piece of music, and it's not bad nor great. However the distinction, it does it's job well, and that's all you need.
GAMEPLAY (53/65): By pressing ''A'' you float around and using the control stick you move from place to place. You can also go off one side of the screen, and you will pop in on the other. Fairly useful strategy as you float in from various sizes to take out your enemies. Of course your enemies are thinking the same thing, and that is popping your balloons so you die. They only have one balloon each, while you have two, but they definitely outnumber you. That and you also have to avoid getting shot down with lightning, and going into the water. There is more to avoid then just enemies.
Of course, you also have to talk about the 2-Player Co-op in this game. You and a friend can play at the exact same time, and can even pop eachothers own balloons. So you can either try to work your way even farther into the game, or go kamikaze on eachother; it's your decision.
REPLAYABILITY (8/10): This game is fun to play, more so then any other early NES game. The idea of it is innovative, and it is addictive with alot of things you can do. Trust me, you will pop this into your Nintendo now and then, cause it is a quick and fun game.
DIFFICULTY (5/5): Very easy game to pick up, and shoot through the early levels. However in the later levels enemies become more frequent, and actually more smarter. This game gets harder as it goes on, and isn't that the point?
OVERALL (81/100): A classic NES game, made as good as possible. It stands through the test of time, and is still being played today. Not many NES games can say that, besides Donkey Kong, and truth be told, this is a MUCH better game then Donkey Kong. Definitely worth the pickup.
Rating: 8.1/10
