Star Fox Assault (GameCube)

Star Fox Assault review (GCN)

Reviewed on March 23, 2005

The Star Fox team first appeared on the Gamecube in a platform game, called Star Fox Adventures. While, many considered it a quality game (and others a subpar game) it never really felt like a true Star Fox game, despite the occasional flying (simple stages). Namco, however, introduced the true sequel to the classic Star Fox games, that game being Star Fox Assault. While it does have its faults, overall it keeps itself true to many of the key aspects of the frist two Star Fox game; that aspect b...
Jak 3 (PlayStation 2)

Jak 3 review (PS2)

Reviewed on January 03, 2005

Jak II was one of those experience that every gamer either absolutely loved or completely loathed. The game strayed from everything the first Jak game stood for, in that it took a much serious outlook, and it based itself more on the GTA series, that it's own original concept. Jak III does not change any of that, as it truly is a sequel to Jak II, keeping the same basic idea of mission based gameplay, complicated story, and a fairly serious demeanor. Despite that, there is more humor thrown alon...
Jak II (PlayStation 2)

Jak II review (PS2)

Reviewed on January 03, 2005

Jak and Daxter was a platforming game based on exploration, simple fight patterns, cool minigames, and lush colorful scenery. All that has changed in Jak II, for no longer is the Jak series perfect for kids of all ages and instead this game is only a little less intense version of Grand Theft Auto.
Xenogears (PlayStation)

Xenogears review (PSX)

Reviewed on August 09, 2004

SQUARE is most noted for it's excellent Final Fantasy franchise, one of the most popular franchises to ever hit the videogame circuit. However, they have expanded from just Final Fantasy in the past with excellent and popular games such as Chrono Trigger and Parasite Eve, and Xenogears is no exception.
Ratchet & Clank (PlayStation 2)

Ratchet & Clank review (PS2)

Reviewed on August 08, 2004

When a game first comes out, it is sometimes overlooked because it isn't part of a franchise or doesn't have a cool violent background for teenangers. I hate to admit, but sometimes I fall into this category, as I become afraid to pick up any game that hasn't already been established with an awesome story, and two or three sequels to follow up with it. This was the case with Ratchet and Clank, as I was never one of those big platform fans, but I decided it has gotten reviews through the roof and...
Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (PlayStation 2)

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 06, 2004

Life is anything but black and white; good or bad. Things are much more complicated, and in Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (ATL:TOTS), they make that lesson very apparent. Instead you are thrown into a world where two races believe the other to be evil, and two people that tie them together. While they are of the same blood, you quickly learn that how they were raised effected their attitudes. Learning the traits of these protagonists is what makes Arc the Lad go on, and turns the newest i...
Final Fantasy Legend III (Game Boy)

Final Fantasy Legend III review (GB)

Reviewed on February 16, 2004

Final Fantasy Legend III was the final game in the trilogy made for Nintendo's gameboy. While there was no storyline connection between the three games, the way fighting worked was similiar throughout them all, and just the pathway through the game had its moments of deja vu. Despite the few similiar inferences though, most of Final Fantasy Legend III is a step in a different direction, and while some of the innovations are positives, many of the others feel unneeded and take away from the enter...
Final Fantasy X (PlayStation 2)

Final Fantasy X review (PS2)

Reviewed on February 15, 2004

The Playstation II gave SQUARESOFT an entirely new oppurtunity. Instead of needing four discs to tell their stories, they could all pack it on one for Final Fantasy X, and with graphics to die for. Everything was looking up, and it seemed that SQUARE would one up themselves once again with the creation of the greatest Final Fantasy game yet... Too bad they fell a bit short.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PlayStation 2)

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence review (PS2)

Reviewed on February 15, 2004

As the only vidoegamer ever to openly state Castlevania 64 as one of the greatest videogames of all time, I was extremely excited to see this videogame series return to a 3D format. I mean, I love the collection of Castlevania games being released on the Gameboy Advance, but in my dreams I imagined Castlevania returning to the next generation systems, once again in that despised 3D formats. I purchased Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (hereby known as C:LOI) as soon as it released, and quickly e...
Final Fantasy Tactics (PlayStation)

Final Fantasy Tactics review (PSX)

Reviewed on February 15, 2004

Final Fantasy Tactics was a highly regarded game, and I knew that some day down the line I would HAVE to purchase it. I finally got around to play it, and at first I was a little confused, but once I understood all of the games mechanics, and the story began to unravel I was entrenched in one of the most magnificent videogame experience in my lifetime.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GameCube)

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker review (GCN)

Reviewed on October 16, 2003

When I first heard about Cel-Shading for Zelda, I was completely outraged. I harbored thoughts of giong to the Nintendo company and massacreing the man who thought of this idea. But as time went on, I got used to this idea, because Zelda still will be Zelda no matter what type of graphics it is in. So of course, the game was released, and I immediately purchased it. Once I started the game, I knew it was to be an enjoyable experience, and yet I didn't dive myself into it like past Zelda games. T...
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Game Boy Advance)

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow review (GBA)

Reviewed on July 27, 2003

At first I was skeptical about purchasing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. My original thoughts were one of disapointment that they would be taking my favorite series and moving it into the future. I thought it would be a diversion of the original gameplay, and I expected to see a game that was subpar in this great series. For a while my thought were even considering boycotting a Castlevania game, something I never thought my brain could process. But when the time came around, and Aria of Sorrow was...
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (Game Boy Advance)

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis review (GBA)

Reviewed on June 22, 2003

Ogre Battle has become a fairly popular series on American shores, and for a good reason. Tactics Ogre found its way through Atlus, and I looked forward to playing this game. I am sad to say, it was not near as good as I dreamed. The game became almost a chore to completely beat, and I would spend weeks on end not playing it, because I really did not have the ambition to go play it. There are some positive aspects to Tactics Ogre, but for every positive there is a negative.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PlayStation)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night review (PSX)

Reviewed on May 21, 2003

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in my mind was the highest plateau of the Castlevania series. Everything grand that was made throughout the series was packed into this one game, and it has become what some would call the greatest 2D adventure game of all time, rivaled only by the original Super Mario Brothers Games. Castlevania: SOTN is just that good. At first it may look complicated and bland, but the game picks up fast, and it never dies out. With classic bosses revised, and just an overal...
Skies of Arcadia Legends (GameCube)

Skies of Arcadia Legends review (GCN)

Reviewed on May 18, 2003

I have been hearing about how Skies of Arcadia was this innovative RPG, one that is underated an unappreciated. Well, I have heard that about alot of game and most times it is unappreciated for reasons. I say most of those games, because Skies of Arcadia is definitely an exception to that. Well, back to my little story; so I heard about this Skies game, and I didn't believe it would be that great, but then my Playstation 2 broke. That left me with no RPG's around as I sent my PS2 to be fixed. So...
Darkwing Duck (Game Boy)

Darkwing Duck review (GB)

Reviewed on May 12, 2003

As all of you should know, Darkwing Duck was a duck who walked and talked like any human and wore a purple suit, and was supplied with various devices from his sidekick Launchpad McQuack and his neice Gosalyn. He had enemies galore, including the fearsome five, which spurred on this seven staged game in which seven of his greatest enemies lurked to stop Darkwing Duck himself. This was the premise for the creation of the NES game that was superb, so they ported it onto the gameboy, but to make it...
Lion King (SNES)

Lion King review (SNES)

Reviewed on May 09, 2003

Lion King is a movie that was a boy office smash hit. Developed by Disney, adults and childrens sat on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what would happen next. So sure enough, Disney was not stupid and they developed a videogame based on the movie. However, unlike many videogames based of movies, this one is actually really good. The gameplay is as expected, but you will hang off ledges, avoid a stampede, and make your way to Scar. All which will lead to one wonderful experience.
Metroid Fusion (Game Boy Advance)

Metroid Fusion review (GBA)

Reviewed on May 04, 2003

First of all, I would like to say I believe this is the best of all the Metroid games, rivaled only by it's prequel Super Metroid. It is entertaining, and has a difficulty that is able to be conquered. It's not the simplest game, and it takes awhile, but once you figure out the bosses weaknesses everything is beatable. I enjoyed my time through Metroid Fusion, collecting items, and shooting up bad guys. While it is anything but a perfect game, it is enjoyable nonetheless.
Devil May Cry 2 (PlayStation 2)

Devil May Cry 2 review (PS2)

Reviewed on April 21, 2003

Devil May Cry was a huge surprise hit by Capcom. Dante became the ultimate badass in videogaming, a half devil creature with one heck of an attitude. He was quick witted with a flashy statement, and guns to back it up. That was the original Devil May Cry, the sequel has a much lamer Dante, and overall a lamer game. Now this review is going to center on the many bad points in Devil May Cry 2, but don't get me wrong, this is not really a horrible game. I do not really regret buying it, although I ...
Quest: Brian's Journey (Game Boy Color)

Quest: Brian's Journey review (GBC)

Reviewed on April 18, 2003

Quest 64 was a very dissapointing game, but it did not end up destroying the series. Instead Quest: Brian's Journey would finish the failure of Quest 64. While neither of these games were terrible, they were met with horrendous critics. The only thing Quest: Brian's Journey had going for it, is that most people never even realized it existed. I only found it used, and because I was searching for it. See, Brian's Journey was released, but never survived on the shelves long. Within a month many vi...
