It can be difficult to take a game called Do You Like Horny Bunnies? seriously. First, there is the obvious question: does the game actually involve rabbits with strong sexual urges? That’s easily enough answered with a solid ‘no’. Instead, the game tells the story of an Italian restaurant where all the waitresses wear skimpy outfits and rabbit ears. They also speak Japanese. Unfortunately for the game, which weathers such plot peculiarities with admirable style, there’s a more pressing question that isn’t answered so effortlessly: why should anyone spend $50 to see a few cartoon girls get screwed repeatedly?

Sure, the girls are sexy enough. There are a total of five of them, all drawn in the usual hentai style that means they’re endowed with large (soulful) eyes and perky breasts. Also, there are plentiful sex scenes with each of the damsels. You’ll get to watch them piss themselves in the middle of spectacular orgasms, suck your throbbing cock, and even arch their backs seductively so you can more easily explore their anal regions. Even better, there are animated sequences for each of these girls that manage to make them all look especially sexy. Jiggling, creamy complexions have perhaps never been drawn in a more satisfying manner. No, it’s not the skin that’s the problem. Instead, it’s the game you have to endure to see it.

Meet Yukari Fujisawa, the newest arrival at the restaurant. The reason for his employment is rather embarrassing: he was mistaken for a girl. This is an affliction that has plagued him for most of his life. At the school he attends, boys even bought him chocolates in hopes of finding their way into his pants. To compensate for it all, Yukari practices judo on the side, when he’s not busy caring for his special exotic fish. When he shows up for work, he’s again assumed to be female. Perhaps because of this, he’s also having sex within a few minutes of play. Do You Like Horny Bunnies? is generous with the sex scenes.

Once Yukari settles into his work environment, you can expect plenty more skin. For all his efforts, Yukari can’t seem to avoid walking in on the girls when they’re changing. If he somehow dances around that blunder, the roles are simply reversed. Of course, such encounters always result in more sex. Often, you as the player are presented with choices that basically only serve to answer a recurring question: “How much do you want to resist it before you give in and have kinky boom boom?”

Such choices are one of the game’s main flaws. Some of them may even seem quite innocent. As Yukari finishes up with his chores and the restaurant winds down toward closing time, what will he do? You can have him clean the bathrooms, check the hallway, or just relax. No matter your decision, sex will likely result. Generally, it is preceded by emotional anguish, and the graphical depiction will be accompanied by plenty of bland descriptions of the sex. In a welcome change, the translators have mostly sidestepped the cheesy descriptions of genitalia. However, they haven’t done anything so that the game makes a whole lot of sense.

Let’s say you start a new game. You learn all about Yukari and how girlish he is, then it’s off to work and the sex that follows. As you progress through the game, you are at times asked which girl you wish to think about. This seems like a transparent way to allow you to pick which girl you want to bang, but it’s really not that easy. If your choices up to these junctions don’t point you down a specific path, you’ll find the game ending prematurely as you come down with a cold and get fired from your job. So you go back and try again, hoping for better. Again, you catch that virus and all ends. There are no closing credits in such an event, just a rough trip back to the title screen.

At this point, you suddenly realize all over again that the only reason you’re even playing is to see the boobies. If you are trying to say “it’s all about the meaningful plot” or something along those lines, you’re just kidding yourself. Shakespeare this is not. Indeed, much of the character development that happens throughout the game is set in your lap, rather than shown. Yukari realizes that so-and-so is especially forward, and that’s when you realize he’s right. Get any of the girls near a suitable sofa or bed and they all behave almost precisely the same. So much for pretending the characters here have any true depth.

After awhile, though, you won’t even mind. You’ll just keep playing so that you can unlock more of the movies. Unless you’re playing with a walkthrough by your side, this amounts to trial-and-error until at last the credits are scrolling and the ‘Extra’ mode appears on the title screen. At last you can skip all the stupid text and the conversations during sex, and just look at the fabulous tits and ass. Then maybe you’ll play a few more times to unlock those scenes you’ve missed, so that they also can be viewed at your leisure.

This all brings us back to the point I was making at the start of the review, which is that there are better ways to spend your $50. However, such criticisms have been leveled at hentai games for years, and that’s something that won’t change. Even in the face of these detractors, people continue to play them as if oblivious. Why? Because there are beautiful babes in every good hentai game. If that’s all you care about and you’re used to buying games within the rather unique genre, disregard all of my complaints. Do You Like Horny Bunnies? may not win any awards and it’s characters most definitely lack depth, but they make up for that with terrific sex. If that’s all you really want, this is your game.
