Saber Interactive is currently working on Spintires: MudRunner 2, but the company issued a press release today to assure fans that it hasn't forgotten about the first game in the series. In fact, additional content is on the way as part of an American Wilds expansion.

Spintires: MudRunner - American Wilds features several "highly-requested" additions. There are two new maps based on the regions of Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota, new challenges, and seven truck brands that include Western Star.

To me, Western Star is significant because my dad, who drove truck, bought first a Peterbilt, then an International and finally a Western Star before finally retiring from that line of work. I suspect that the sort of people who most readily buy games in this series have had similar exposure to that brand or others among the 30 vehicles now included within the title.

If stats are your thing, know that American Wilds will bring together the base game plus DLC content and the expansion, which means a total of not only the aforementioned 30 vehicles, but also 60 add-ons, 10 sandbox maps and 11 challenge maps. That's a lot of ground to cover, alone or with as many as three friends. And it's not even counting mods, which will be available for the PC version of the title.

Spintires: MudRunner - American Wilds, and also the American Wilds expansion (in case you already own the base game) will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC starting October 23. A Nintendo Switch version will follow in November on a currently unspecified date. Console versions are already available for pre-order at fine online retailers.
