Aragami: Shadow Edition finds a publisher to bring it to Nintendo Switch

The game's developer is a bit on the small side, but it'll get by with a little help from a friend.

Aragami: Shadow Edition is on its way to Nintendo Switch later this year, developer Lince Works announced today in a press release. The game released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One earlier this year, but a Switch version looked unlikely until Merge Games arrived on the scene.

As the subtitle implies, Aragami: Shadow Edition includes Aragami itself (a 2016 release), along with expanded content that was originally released as Aragami: Nightfall. All available DLC is included. In other words, you can buy the Switch version while content in the knowledge that you're not missing out on content.

Today's press release emphasized a few points of interest. First, both the game and its expanded content are compatible with two-player online co-op. More impressively: the Switch version of the game is compatible with the PC and Xbox One versions, which should give you a wider variety of allies to bring with you on your quests.

In Aragami: Shadow Edition, players assume the role of a killer ninja (or, more specifically, a killed but still animated assassin) who attacks from the shadows with mythical monsters crafted out of darkness. The gameplay is clearly inspired by the likes of Tenchu, with an emphasis on the challenge and stealthy moments for which that franchise and others are known.

Aragami: Shadow Edition doesn't have a specific release date quite yet, but you can look for it to arrive on the eShop this fall. Merge Games will also make a physical version available in stores, though it's possible that will occur at a later date. Then again, everything could all happen at once. The press release wasn't specific on that point. It was too busy talking about assassins.
