Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers, an upcoming arcade racer that could hardly hope to look more like R.C. Pro-Am II without inspiring unwelcome legal action, is headed to Nintendo Switch by month's end. Officially, Unties will publish the game in North America on August 30, 2018.

You may have heard of UNTIES previously. It is Sony Music's publishing label, and "dedicated to expanding the reach of Japan's best indie developers." The name refers to the company's goal of "untying games from specific platforms and sharing them worldwide." That includes sharing them on Nintendo hardware, clearly.

Pocket, the game's developer, is a four-person Japanese indie studio "aiming to create games and apps that touch people by bringing them the joy of new experiences through simple yet exciting gameplay."

As many as eight players drive slot cars and can compete locally or online, through 15 tracks set within three distinct zones. They'll be able to boost through curves and participate in competitive battle modes. See what I mean about it resembling R.C. Pro-Am II?

The game also supports solo play, allowing players to practice up for multiplayer events down the road or even to race with AI-controlled friends. That should also be a great way to unlock additional content, and to experiment with visual designs before strutting your stuff while your friends watch in almost certain envy.

"Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers makes you feel like a little kid all over again," said John Davis, G&R Representative, UNTIES. "From the moment you hit start, it just has that playful wonder to it that takes you back to scooting race cars across the carpet as a kid. This time, though, it's gathered around the TV with friends."

Chiki-Chiki Boxy Racers will support English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese languages when it launches on August 30 with a virtual sticker price of $9.99 USD. See you on the track?
