Borderlands 2 sells more than five million units
All that marketing seems to have paid off, hmm?
Take-Two Interactive Software today announced that Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2, which launched just a bit more than a month ago, has sold more than five million unites to date, making it one of the most successful titles in 2K Games' history.
The five million units shipped amount includes digital sales, according to second quarter results posted on its website.
Take-Two will follow up Borderlands 2's success with an iOS version of the franchise, Borderlands Legends, which launched today. The company also touted good sales for NBA 2K13 and said they expect to deliver "revenue growth" during the next fiscal year with the recently announced launch of Grand Theft Auto V. (Take-Two also owns Rockstar Games, in case you didn't know.)
The results posting also sets a fiscal year 2014 release date for XCOM, 2K Games' first-person shooter take on the alien franchise, which is not to be confused with the recently released XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
