Dawnguard on PS3 is a problem Bethesda is not sure it can solve
"We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone."
Sure, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first major downloadable content pack, Dawnguard, would've been exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox 360 for a little while anyway. But it's been more than two months since the DLC's launch, and PlayStation 3 owners are beginning to wonder if they'll ever get to take on Harkon and his vampire army on their system of preference.
Well, it's beginning to sound unlikely, according to a forum post by Bethesda on its forums.
"Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone," wrote the developer in the forum post. "This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content."
Understandably, this must frustrate owners of the PS3 version of Skyrim, even more so considering more DLC was recently announced for the Xbox 360.
Hopefully, Bethesda and Sony can work some magic (or some sort of dragon shout) to get the DLC in an acceptable state to release on the PlayStation Network at some point. We'll keep you posted, of course, if that were to happen.
For now, though? Well, you can cheer yourself up by realizing your saving yourself 20 buckaroos by not being able to by Dawnguard! I guess.
