Oh, the Sickening Irony (or, The Funniest Game Trade I've Ever Made)
July 15, 2007

Today, I shall discuss a recent event that had me ROTFL (for the AIM-impaired, that means "rolling on the floor laughing." I will not mention which games were involved specifically, but let's just say that I really suck at RPGs. I MUCH prefer to play action, fighting, and platforming games, such as some from the Sonic series (nudge nudge).

Well, a few months ago, a buddy and I met at a GameStop. After chatting a while, I casually mentioned the two games I was considering buying for the GameCube. They were both $20, and both well-praised games around the game-reviews circuit. One was an RPG; the other was a Sonic title. My friend urged me to get the RPG. After all, I already had a Sonic game or two. Why get another one? I obliged, and bought the RPG.

Fast-forward to about two weeks ago, now. I took a copy of a really fun game to this same friend's house, and we proceeded to game the afternoon away. When I was about to leave, he asked me to borrow this game, adding that I could help myself and borrow one of his games, too. I looked over his selection, and picked out the same Sonic title that he had advised me not to get. He'd picked it up, he explained, because he wanted to see how Sonic games played. While he liked it a little, his overall opinion was that it was an average game.

Well, just yesterday, my almost-omnipresent pal showed up to game some more. We had a lot of fun blowing each other up with rocket launchers, as we often do. I remarked that I had a lot of games that I didn't really play, and provided the example of the aforementioned RPG. He asked if he could borrow it. I said, "Of course! Take it; I don't need it." He then offered me a deal: if he liked this RPG that I didn't play, then I could trade it to him for the same Sonic game that he said I shouldn't buy, 'cuz I already had a few.

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

But that's not all the irony, folks! This last Sonic game was the only Sonic game that I didn't own yet. I had bought all the other titles, except for this one. With this possible trade, this game will complete my showcase of all the Sonic games for GameCube.

Well, you may not fall out of your chair laughing, but I hope you enjoy this story. Bye!

A GameCube Sonic game that's well-praised? Don't make me laugh.

Baten Kaitos kicks ass.

Actually, the game wasn't that bad. It was Sonic Gems Collection. I beg to differ with Suskie's opinion that all GameCube Sonic games suck-- Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was amazing, and the first SA was alright. Now, the other ones? Well, Shadow the Hedgehog's okay-- about average-- but Sonic Heroes? It just sucks.

Besides, Gems Collection has Sonic CD on it. I can't think of anyone who could say no to that. Also, it contained Sonic the Fighters for the first time ever on a console, which I used to write my second (and most undervisited) guide. Go check it out so it can get more hits, please!

As for the RPG, I'm a little nervous to admit it, for fear of being flamed to a crisp... OK, I'll give in. Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

What can I say? I didn't really like it much! Please don't yell at me.

Haha, many HG users agreed upon release that Four Swords Adventures sucked.

Alundra 2 isn't funny: it's wrist slittingly depressing.
