Well, my first week has gone by and already I feel jaded against the entire concept of college. I mean sure, my professors are cool -something I'm not really used to- and this campus makes me feel safe and content, but the homework? Ugh.

First off, my History professor gave us a syllabus, but it's rather useless now, since we're already off. Yippe. Next, last week, she gave us a mountain of work without explanation, so I assumed it was due Friday, like she said a map was due. This map is double-sided and we have to label all these natural features and whatnot. Along with that is about thirty pages of notes for the first four chapters, along with a fill-in-the-blank outline for those four chapters and a take-home quiz. Now I, being the retard, thought, once again that it was all due on Friday. So Thursday night I'm struggling with the quiz and outline and finally, I get to a point where I say, "You know what? Screw it!" and go to bed. Next day, I find out that only one side of the map was due, and the take home quiz was due NEXT Friday, and the outline was optional. I had done a week's worth of work.

Needless to say, I was a little angry. But only a little. Sure, an optimist would say, "At least you don't have to worry about it now." No, not me. I feel a little cheated. I coulda been sleeping at 3 am. But no. I was being proactive.

However, I am feeling a bit intimidated by Sociology now. My professor is talking about the final project already, and I have no idea what the hell my project is going to be about. I really don't like leaning towards the front page news issues, since the majority of people do those anyway, so I'm stuck in the proverbial rut. Sure, it's only September, but we only meet twice a week and I'm positive it will go really quickly. I thought about autism or the inner workings of a marching band, but I'm not so sure.

I need to eat now. -_-

It's true for pretty much every college course that professors' aren't going to vocally assign work. They just expect you to read their syllabus and do it. From my experiences, however, only crumby professor's don't follow their own syllabus and end up changing it nearly every class. My Writing 100 teacher comes to mind. At times I wondered why we even had a syllabus when we consantly moved readings around and magically lost classes due to her apparent inability to use a calender.
