Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, I'd just finished sending the writing sample HG requested, and was preparing to head to bed.
Not ten minutes after I hit submit, as I mentioned yesterday, the power went out. No big deal; I figured that I'd come home Wednesday and turn on the computer and reset the clocks. Only.. the power outage apparently borked my computer. I turn it on, Windows starts to load.. and the Blue Screen of Death appears, warning me of hard drive corruption.
*headdesk*
Luckily, the IT guy at my work is damn good at fixing computers (he fixed my computer after my husband managed to download the Virus from Hell and my removal measures got rid of the virus but trashed my Internet settings) and if I bring in my copy of XP tomorrow he'll finish fixing it. So I SHOULD be back up by the weekend.
Worse comes to worse I'll ask the boss if I can borrow the laptop until next week so I can still get online this weekend.
The GOOD thing is I can finally format my drive, while saving the important things, install XP.. and FINALLY play Gabriel Knight 3!!! Plus it'll clear off a lot of crap my hubby downloaded that slowed the computer up..

honestgamer - March 20, 2008 (01:04 PM) Perhaps people who haven't played them, EmP? :-D Seriously, though, they did look interesting. I remember thinking "Hmm, I bet those are neat" when they appeared in the old Electronics Boutique catalogs that used to come to me years ago... |

sashanan - March 20, 2008 (01:19 PM) You owe it to yourself to try 'em, HG. Gabriel Knight is a fine piece of adventure gaming history starring one of my favorite protagonists of all time. |

siara79 - March 20, 2008 (01:40 PM) I was obsessed with those types of games, especially Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis. So when Sash picked GK3 up for me I was truly anxious to play.. until I discovered that it won't play on Windows 2000. But since it is apparently XP compatible, I'll be able to play it soon! (Also, EMP, I have the novelization of the first game, Sins of the Fathers. That made me even MORE anxious to play.) |
