Umm.. yeah.

Just found out, via Comingsoon.net, that the Dragon Ball (although another site says it's DBZ, the synopsis seems to be the former) live-action movie is slated to release August 15, 2008.

I'm guessing it's going to be 90 minutes of waiting for something to happen while the leads exchange such witty banter of "You'll never get away with this!" and "Just try and stop me!" followed by a really big explosion.

I predict the fanboys will love it.

And that my husband will drag me to see it on opening weekend. *weeps*

Oh my God. I'm so sorry for you ;_; "Just try and stop me", indeed.

That show is so awful. Maybe they'll distill the whole series into the first 5 minutes--seems like it wouldn't be difficult to do--then move into new territory?

Shortly after reading this, I started watching live-action fan videos on YouTube. I now feel at least 10 levels cooler.

I heard this one is based on the original Dragon Ball, with Goku as a kid, that I don't particularly like either.

I mean, I was willing to give DB/DBZ a chance.. until the aforementioned "end" of the Frieza saga that took 2-3 weeks for a) the last five minutes of planet Naamik & b) Goku and Frieza powering up and yelling at each other for that whole time.

Hubby teases me about it constantly, too. But I think he DOES understand. But he'll have to watch it while I'm at work unless I'm feeling REALLY generous. At which point, my PSP/DS go on and I ignore the TV. :P

Finally, that movie will rock my socks.
