Resident Evil 2 review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe character models are quite detailed, and so are the pre-rendered backgrounds. There're several different kinds of zombies, and they always seem to look a bit different. From the endless amounts of blood, to the expressions on the characters' faces, Resident Evil 2's graphics are nothing but top-notch. |

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownYou grab this item, put it here, then run all the way back there to grab that item, then put it here. It can get boring, and tedious. And because the game doesn't take place in just one building, you sometimes have to run all the way back to the beginning of the game to grab something. |

Shadow Madness review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe story in this game is its peak. It's quite good, actually. It's about a plague, and well... a plague. It doesn't sound like much, but it really does prove to be involving, and somewhat suspenseful. |

Star Ocean: The Second Story review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownYou only control one of your characters at a time, although you can switch when you want to. Different attacks are assigned to different buttons, and you can press triangle (I think it is) to enter a menu where you can choose to use and item, or pick the tactics that you want your party members to use. |

Street Fighter Alpha 3 review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThere are 3 main fighting styles in this game: X-ism, Y-ism, and A-ism. Each fighting style has its own combos, and attributes. X-ism is the most basic, and probably fit for beginners. If you're fighting with X-ism, your character has high defense, and has one big super combo. |

Suikoden review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe duals are extremely challenging indeed, and I found myself getting very frustrated over them! It is also a challenge to recruit all 108 party members; it was fun doing it. Most party members require you to do some sort of ''chore'' before you get them. |
Tekken 3 review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownBut other than that, they kept the original arcade mode, and added other modes like beach ball mode, Tekken street mode, etc... There's lots of stuff to do here, and tons of replay value. |
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe view in Tenchu is much like that of Tomb Raider. A 3rd-person back-view. You must creep your way through several levels, while fighting some truly tough bosses. |
Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownWhile some players may be tempted to just run out into the open, and run to the end of the level, they'll hardly get any points, and it'll be much harder. It's much more fun to take your time on a level (around 15-20 minutes), and try not to be spotted. |
Vagrant Story review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe graphics in Vagrant Story are some of the best I've seen in a while... very smooth and life-like animations, stunning cinemas, phenomenal lighting, detailed polygons... this game's got it all. There is nothing here that's 2D; the characters and environments are all fully 3D. |
Vandal Hearts review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThey're very flat looking, and after playing FFT, it was sometimes hard for me to even see the characters and tell them apart on the battle map. There are no cutscenes, and the graphics are basically the biggest downfall in this game. Boring, sloppy, and not by any means eye-pleasing. |
Xenogears review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownThe gear battles are similar, and use the same system with weak, medium, and strong attacks. You can still do combos, but each turn you go without doing a combo, your attack level goes up... And the higher the attack level, the better combos you can do. |
Mega Man X5 review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownParts of certain levels are a real pain... It took me a dozen tries to get through some areas, but I always managed to find a way of proceeding. It just takes a bit of trial and error sometimes, and that's been a given ever since the first MegaMan game... |

Dragon Warrior VII review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownDragon Warrior 7 is a monstrosity. It is the first English installment of the Dragon Warrior series to be officially released in a long time. However, that does not mean that the series has progressed much. In an alarming development, the entire Dragon Warrior series has not seen a major upgrade in quality since the leap from 1 to 2. All proceeding games have been simple improvements in quality, culminating with Dragon Warrior 6. It was an excellent game, but since... |

Final Fantasy Tactics review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownForget about all the other standard console role playing games, like Final Fantasy 7 or Chrono Cross. Or about the wargames such as Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre. Final Fantasy Tactics backhands them in the face, insults their mothers, and then kicks them square in the stomach while they're down. |
Suikoden review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownIn the world of console gaming, there's different kinds of role playing games. There's your small, close-knit casts seen in Final Fantasy games. There's the extended cast, seen in games such as Star Ocean 2. There's the large cast, seen in Chrono Cross, which features over twenty characters. And then there are the Suikoden games. |
Valkyrie Profile review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownIf you prefer good gameplay to good storylines, or if those twits in Lunar and Final Fantasy talk too much for you, then Valkyrie Profile might be worth a try. |
Parasite Eve review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownParticularly nice in the opening scene is a pan across the Statue of Liberty — rendered so beautifully, yet bearing a disturbingly sad look upon its face... the setting is so quiet and calm that you just know something horrible is going to happen. |
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownOne of the greatest games ever to grace the PSX has been seen increasingly in electronics stores everywhere, despite the fact that it's quite a few years old. The game that I'm referring to involves a great storyline, memorable characters, enough items to choke on, the undead, and, of course, the immortal Count Dracula. |

Final Fantasy IX review (PSX)Reviewed on Date UnknownWhat prompted me to buy this game? Perhaps it was my longing for another great story from Square. Because that's what most Square RPGs are, a story, with some new gameplay devised thrown in for good measure. Another reason was the return to ''Old School'' Fantasy, not the modern fantasy of VII and VIII. (Which has it’s own charm, mind you) I was willing to put up with the random battles and leveling up, but was very surprised when neither were really that bad. Thanks to this game, I am now ... |
