Suikoden III review (PS2)Reviewed on January 08, 2003Few things stir feelings more then the concept of nationalism. The idea that certain ethnic and religious groups are nationally entitled to a vague political boundary based on centuries old barriers is a constant factor in wars in the present day world. No country is immune; the United States prides itself on being the “best” in the world, yet the mere thought that another nation can have a bigger arsenal of weaponry then causes us to hurriedly develop weapons of mass destruction that would gi... |

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure review (PS2)Reviewed on December 07, 2002Without a doubt, Rygar: The Legendary Adventure is a perfectly acceptable follow-up to its excellent predecessor, and a good title in its own right (particularly if you liked Devil May Cry and the sequel's release in 2003 seems too far away). With generally impressive visuals and a terrific sense of atmosphere, it seldom goes wrong. |

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 review (PS2)Reviewed on December 06, 2002Someone should ban the use of the word 'extreme' when it comes to describing the sports chosen by people who wear baggy pants. Why is skateboarding more extreme than, say, darts? The risk of injury in darts is surely higher, considering it is played mostly in places that people congregate to drink vast quantites of alcohol. But, I digress. |

Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 review (PS2)Reviewed on November 27, 2002Do we all remember Street Fighter from the good ol' days? I always will, as that is one series which shook the ground from under me. So when I saw that there was another fighter with the Street Fighter characters in it, I knew I had to pick it up. And yet after awhile I found myself using fighters that I have never seen before. That is the beauty of Capcom vs SNK. There are so many fighters to choose from, that there is a new one to learn each and every moment. |

Ninja Assault review (PS2)Reviewed on November 26, 2002Another thing they did which generally works is set it so that if you're hovering about and an enemy appears in the general vicinity of where you have the cursor positioned, your aim will snap to that foe. You can practically lock on as the enemy skitters about, reloading as necessary. Not always is this the blessing you may think. |

Grand Theft Auto III review (PS2)Reviewed on November 23, 2002Now and then there is a game that comes along that is like nothing else. A game that lets you live out your darkside, that everyone inevitably has. To be able to go ''whack'' some punk boy on the street, or go Kamikaze with cops shooting at you. Pedestrians at the sidewalk are at your mercy. You are in complete control in whether or not hundreds or people may live. And likely you won't let them live. That is Grand Theft Auto: 3. It is rightly rated Mature, as it is based on the darkside of the w... |

Virtua Fighter 4 review (PS2)Reviewed on November 19, 2002There was a time when fighting games were as common as raindrops. Every day there were a few new ones released, mostly identikit, and mostly decidedly average affairs. This was due to the incredible success of Street Fighter 2, by Capcom. Clones were releaesed with frightening regularity, and the genre very nearly died due to over-exposure. The limits of what was possible were reached very quickly, or so people thought. However, nobody was prepared for what SEGA was cooking up in the background.... |

Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec review (PS2)Reviewed on November 15, 2002There have been many crappy racing games throughout time. The majority of them, quite frankly, aren't worth the space they take up on the end table. However for every five or so crappy racing game, one that stands on top is released. Gran Turismo 3 makes up for those 5 crappy games, and much more of the racing industry. If you could only buy one racing game at this moment, then this would be the obvious choice for purchase. In a genre littered with mistakes, one great game stands at the top. |

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty review (PS2)Reviewed on November 14, 2002To make my triumphant return into the world of videogame reviews, I will start with one of the great classics for Playstation 2: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Metal Gear was a classic game for the NES that based on stealth, instead of quick button pressing. Than came a game only released in Japan. Time went on, and the game that made Solid Snake a household name was made, Metal Gear Solid. After the success of that game, it was obvious we would see a sequel, and Playstation 2 did just tha... |

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City review (PS2)Reviewed on November 09, 2002It was back in the days of the PlayStation that Rockstar Games first gave us a taste of the criminal lifestyle in Grand Theft Auto. For many, the game was just too controversial, while for some it lacked direction, and for others it was too graphically lacking. But quite a few people also loved the game because of the open ended nature of it. You could literally choose your own path through the game. At the time, this kind of freedom was almost unheard of. The game admittedly looked awful, but t... |

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 review (PS2)Reviewed on October 12, 2002Filled with much of what made its namesake so delightful, but in larger doses, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 stands not only as the ultimate example of what a Need for Speed title should be, but also of what any entry in the genre can hope to accomplish. |

Tekken 4 review (PS2)Reviewed on September 25, 2002In fact, it's hard to seriously knock anything, other than the afore-mentioned Tekken Force. In Tekken 4, gamers will find an awesome revolution. Beautiful visuals and sound have never worked so well to complement a slick fighting system as they do here. |

Devil May Cry review (PS2)Reviewed on August 19, 2002I know millions of people will be up and arms when I say this, but I think Devil May Cry was Capcoms greatest achievement. Here me out before you go out and get your pitchforks and torches. Anybody can play Devil May Cry, and anyone can have fun with it. There is only one real flaw in the game, and it is a great experience nonetheless. There is a simple combination of strategy, skill, and a large handful of pure action. A great combination for a quick pickup, and loads of fun. |

Drakan: The Ancients' Gates review (PS2)Reviewed on July 27, 2002Sony snuck up on everyone and released this part action, part adventure, part RPG hybrid. Few people were expecting it, and few really cared when it actually came out. After all, who wants a game that looks like Tomb Raider but plays more like a cross N64's Zelda games and Blizzard's Diablo? Luckily, Sony |
