Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly review (PS2)Reviewed on June 19, 2012Any gamer remembers Spyro as the game which became an instant classic, as soon as it hit the shelves. Personally, I remember it as the first game I played on my first console back in '98. It had me hooked. Along with it's sequels (Gateway to Glimmer (UK version of Ripto's Rage) and Year of the Dragon), it had the ability to conjure up excitement with every new portal, homeworld or enemy. However, what went wrong with Enter the Dragonfly? |

Final Fantasy X review (PS2)Reviewed on April 28, 2012After that debacle, though, I noticed that Yuna had a particular piece of armor designed to block three particular negative statuses, so I decided to make sure she was always in the party when fighting them. Sure enough, she was able to avoid being confused or silenced by the beast and, as a result, cure my other members so they could finish it off. A tough monster made easier due to me using my brain — I was proud of myself! |

Legaia 2: Duel Saga review (PS2)Reviewed on April 07, 2012Legaia 2: Duel Saga seems to be a throwback to old-school JRPGs, which might satisfy the hardcore RPG gamer looking for some nostalgia. But while striving for the old-school vibe it throws away the many things that made the original Legend of Legaia so innovative and endearing. It is hard for me to recommend this game to fans of the original that may have higher expectations. But then again, it is hard to recommend this game to RPG newcomers as well. |

Rule of Rose review (PS2)Reviewed on February 27, 2012While coming on strongly like a survival horror title, Rule of Rose nods to some of the genre's mechanical demands in an almost obligatory fashion, being basic at the basics and downright bad at combat. The game's power and meaning are instead invested in atypical areas; in a weird and chronologically difficult mystery story, in its transgressive subject matter and in the wide range of moods the game is able to conjure up. |

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus review (PS2)Reviewed on February 16, 2012While Sly Cooper occasionally shows glimpses of stealth, it just doesn't do enough to be called a stealth game. It's a decent action game, and a very good platformer. But, a stealth game, it isn't. |

Sega Classics Collection review (PS2)Reviewed on February 10, 2012Easily one of the most deceiving titles ever, Sega Classics Collection does include an array of old-school Sega games, sure, but, besides an exception, the games featured are not the original versions. The titles in this compilation were first released individually in Japan as part of the Sega Ages budget line for the PlayStation 2, which lasted for five years and had a total of 33 volumes, though, at the time of this collection's launch, only 17 were available. |

Final Fantasy X-2 review (PS2)Reviewed on January 28, 2012Having finally played and completed Final Fantasy X-2 after all these years, I find that it is neither as bad as its detractors have painted it, nor is it as good as its fanbase says it is. It's not as good as its predecessor, but it's far from being the worst entry in the series, as some would have you believe. |

Scarface: The World is Yours review (PS2)Reviewed on January 07, 2012Adding difficulty is important to any game, but turning up the frustration factor too high with little payoff can cause anyone to burn out. With little variety, there's little to help cool the tension. You'll either tough out the frustration or spend your time on something more worthwhile. Either that, or you'll just play Scarface again and pretend it ends after you've secured the first half of Miami. |

Red Dead Revolver review (PS2)Reviewed on December 13, 2011Read Dead Revolver's style will mesmerize and the intermittent fun will keep you, and maybe that's what hurts the most. I know I've said this before, but sometimes the worst 'bad games' are the ones you think you're going to love. Once the spell it has over you breaks, so does your heart. |

Tales of the Abyss review (PS2)Reviewed on December 02, 2011As you play, though, you'll notice a dark side to the powers that be relying on The Score as their be-all, end-all source of guidance; especially when it's made clear than a number of huge tragedies were caused by man solely to keep things in line with The Score. |

Under the Skin review (PS2)Reviewed on October 08, 2011There's even a Resident Evil 3-themed level, including zombies, a hulked-out Nemesis, and Jill Valentine, the latter which you can transform into and... yes, see in her undies. |

Call of Duty 3 review (PS2)Reviewed on September 09, 2011Whether it be the Americans, Canadians, British or Polish, there will be arguments and in-fighting as the troops are faced with imminent death while pushing into occupied territory. Well, maybe not the Poles, as their main purpose seems to be to provide Treyarch an excuse to toss a touch of tank combat into the mix. |

Dragon Ball Z: Sagas review (PS2)Reviewed on August 06, 2011Dragon Ball Z: Sagas is an uninteresting brawler made worse by a gaping hole in the gameplay. It was a novel idea turning DBZ into a brawler, but Avalanche would have been better off taking the expected route in creating an arcade style beat 'em up. |

Gradius V review (PS2)Reviewed on August 01, 2011I've stated that I like playing the first Gradius because of its fine balance, but Gradius V is the first time in the main series where I've genuinely enjoyed playing the whole thing, from start to finish. |

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 review (PS2)Reviewed on June 23, 2011If someone were to ask me what I thought the most fulfilling game I’ve ever played was, I would tell them that without a doubt it is Persona 4. Persona 4 is far and away the most fleshed out and satisfying RPG I have ever played in just about every single way. Categorically speaking this game is flawless. |

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence review (PS2)Reviewed on June 08, 2011Mr. Exposition gives you the details of the plot, which basically comes down to Walter being a bit bored with eternal life, so for amusement, he kidnaps the loved ones of potential worthy opponents in order to engage in combat with the vengeful fighters. The old man lost his daughter to the vampire, but not his life or humanity. No, he's kept around to serve as a general store, so desperate to avenge his loss that he'll charge an arm and a leg for life-restoring potions and armor. A true humanitarian, this guy. |
