It's not easy, being Death. As if having the voice of a 1980s throwback gameshow host - or constantly wearing your nation's flag atop your head (Swedish, naturally) - wasn't bad enough, there's also the small matter of collecting lost souls to contend with. Rather than going out there and doing the dirty work himself, The Grim Reaper's only option is to employ the services of a single being, trapped amongst the peculiar cubic guests in the hotel from Hell.

In this sequel to the popular Oneechanpuruu, you assume the role of a hot Japanese babe in a bikini who carves up the walking dead with her bloodthirsty katana. Besides providing a little insight into the Oneechanbara series’ selling power, this may lead you to conclude that The Oneechanpon features more of the same. You’d be pretty much dead on, too – except that virtually every facet of the original has been improved upon.

On the verge of a grisly defeat, he implored for the assistance of the God of War, Ares, to come down and smite his foes. In exchange for the godly intervention, Kratos’ soul now belonged to the vile deity. This set the scene for the events that occurred in the first God of War.

That's the real problem with Drakengard: it's annoying. Killing stuff just isn't fun. If it were, I'd be able to gloss over such faults and thrive in the moment. Alas, a poor camera (you cannot manually control the view) and a lack of impact (weapon blows feel like they're striking sacks of wheat, not people) further hamper the action.

Getting close to an unsuspecting enemy will cause things to slow down and go blurry, allowing the prince to initiate a very fast, and very stylish kill. His dagger will flash blue when the time is right to hit the attack button. If your timing is off, you'll bollocks up the sequence, and have to fight the enemy the old fashioned way, or else use a Sand Tank to rewind time and try it again.

The effort you must apply toward the protagonist’s social progression is one of the most interesting things about Persona 3. If he doesn’t seize every opportunity for a conversation with one of his peers at the local high school (or in the community that lies outside its halls), he’ll be significantly outclassed by his enemies when battles occur.

Lifeline’s notorious gimmick is the near-complete neglect of the controller. Instead, it relies upon voice recognition through the PS2 headset. Since you are stuck in the monitor room and Rio has the analytical mentality of a first-grader, you have to guide her every move through the space station via vocal commands.

Drakengard 2 will piss off Drakengard fans. It’s your standard bad sequel, but it goes further than that. Developers Cavia actually took steps in the right direction and then blew it. One of the most gruesome battles in World War Two was the battle for the pacific ocean. The Americans and the Japanese fought at sea, and in the air. Pacific Warriors 2: Dogfight allows you to become an aircraft pilot and help your allies take control of the pacific. You can choose between flying for the USA, or for Japan. In each campaign, you must complete missions, which range from simple dogfights in the air, to a controlled bombing of the enemy's airbase runway.

As a traceur myself, this game is a little strange for me. I can pick up the controller and do everything that I can do elsewhere on my television. It's a great idea to extend the reach of parkour, or freerunning, to the masses who aren't able to participate themselves. But the game doesn't just teach or show parkour, or even freerunning for that matter. It leaves behind most of the rules and jumps straight up to the jaw dropping stuff we see in the professional media.

You just never know what a mission will involve until you accept it. Some have you completing mini-games, others have you sliding down huge slides and collecting stars, others have you rushing to the highest points of an area and still others ask you to run toward through cluttered environments while an enemy chases you. If you don’t feel like completing a mission at the moment, you don’t have to.
