Theme Hospital review (PC)Reviewed on December 31, 2005Theme Hospital is the kind of game one could own their entire life and never complete. In fact, I’ve restarted this sim almost every year since its release and have yet finished. The creativity alone keeps me coming back for seconds, but, regrettably, I always rediscover what turned me away in the first place. This is a title that could be installed, uninstalled, and even reinstalled, but the concluding level would forever remain elusive. |

Jurassic Park III: Park Builder review (GBA)Reviewed on October 07, 2005Have you ever had the notion to create Jurassic Park? A place where there's adventure, excitement, and the chance for innocent civilians to be gobbled up by ancient reptiles. Surely, the anticipation of seeing extinct, rarely viewed prehistoric monstrosities coming back to life is of some interest. I'd be willing to pay to watch a Tyrannosaurus stalk its prey and maliciously feast upon their guts like they were Kibbles 'n' Bits. Well with the help of Konami, there's a park management sim for all... |

XIII review (XBX)Reviewed on May 15, 2005For the last several years, comic books have been slowly making a stronger impact on the more popular of medias. DC and Marvel characters alone have caused a recent wave of blockbuster hits and even comics with smaller cult followings, such as Spawn and Hellboy, have created quite the stir on their own. The recent success has sparked a race to see which company can cash in on this growing trend. Activision scored Spider-man, Eurocom is the latest developer for Batman, and Superman has been whore... |

NFL Street review (XBX)Reviewed on February 17, 2005Once upon a time, EA Sports released a little gem called NBA Street. Inspired by the likes of NBA Jam, it stole the show with its ability to combine the NBA game and the style and flare of street basketball. The game's ambition quickly turned into a hit and, as any successful company would do, EA Sports quickly found a way to cash in on its flourishing product. Thus we have the creation of NFL Street - a brand of football that attempts to be as hip as its NBA brethren. Being the student of Blitz... |

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury review (GCN)Reviewed on December 18, 2004The Gamecube hasn't had the best success in the fighting genre. Soul Caliber 2 and other multiconsole ports have dominated a market with only one prominent first party fighter, Super Smash Brothers Melee. Based off this logic, Hudson's Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, a basic rehash of its Playstation 2 counterpart and the third installment in the Bloody Roar series, attempted to take its slice of the pie. On one end of the spectrum, the release provides a responsive and beautiful entry for the genre s... |

Skies of Arcadia Legends review (GCN)Reviewed on December 02, 2004Remakes and ports of older games seem to be a growing trend in the Gamecube game library. Beginning with Resident Evil and continuing with a string of Sega titles, including Sonic Adventure 2, Evolution Worlds, and this title; Skies of Arcadia Legends. A heralded RPG for the Dreamcast, SoAL's strong gameplay and emphasis on exploration now breathes fresh air into a Gamecube system in dire need of a hit in the genre. However, the skies aren't completely clear in Arcadia, clouds of age seem to be ... |

Tetris Worlds review (XBX)Reviewed on September 27, 2004For the last fifteen teen years, Alexey Pajitnov's classic puzzle game has seen countless remakes and copycats. Most of these renditions fail to even breathe new life into the simple game of tetris and Tetris Worlds is no different. Armed with a little flash and some techno beats, Tetris Worlds attempts to turn tetris's casual gameplay into a long lasting adventure by telling the story of the Minos. |

Deathrow review (XBX)Reviewed on September 05, 2004I feel it’s unfair for creatively good games to not be advertised in anyway or be released with over shadowing big name competitors. This usually causes unknown games to fall in between the cracks of genre rivals and its own obscure world. In the end, these games don't receive the attention they deserve nor does it normally give the game's fans a worthy sequel to look forward to. I believe Deathrow can be classified in this way. It features fighting/beat 'em up action combined with an innovative... |

NES Play Action Football review (NES)Reviewed on September 04, 2004A good football game on the NES is a difficult title to gain. The NES's lack of power and overall simplicity made it challenging for football games, or any sports games, to capture a sense of the sport and be playable at the same time. Don't get me wrong; the NES did host a trio of football classics. Two being Tecmo Bowl (1989) and its sequel Tecmo Super Bowl (1991), both offered a football feel and easy to pick-up playability. NES Play Action Football is the other of these football classics. It... |
