Dead to Rights (Game Boy Advance)

Dead to Rights review (GBA)

Reviewed on August 06, 2007

Jack Slate wasn't kidding when he said Grant City was the hardest place on Earth. Every inch you walk in his world, you'll confront criminals and bad dudes that wanna kill you. This being an action game and all, you'd figure that would be a great thing, right? I mean, who doesn't want to bust into an area, guns blazing, killing anyone who dares stand in your way? Well, unfortunately, the developers screwed up this simple formula for an action title, because you won't be having any fun at all in ...

Christmas NiGHTS (Saturn)

Christmas NiGHTS review (SAT)

Reviewed on July 16, 2007

When you begin Christmas NiGHTS, you realize there's only one dream to play in, Spring Valley. That's nothing compared to the original title's seven dreams, and you assume you'll finish this game in a matter of minutes, living up to being a sampler. Shockingly, that's not the case, and it actually ends up being better than its predecessor.

NiGHTS into Dreams... has got to be the prettiest time attack game I've ever played.
The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery (Game Boy Advance)

The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery review (GBA)

Reviewed on July 11, 2007

If you ever get around to playing The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery, then your health and safety may be at risk. As the warning screen at the start says, you need to read the Health and Safety Precautions Booklet before you start the game, because the last thing we need are people having heart attacks or exploding. Barbie demands it.
Street Fighter: The Movie (Saturn)

Street Fighter: The Movie review (SAT)

Reviewed on July 04, 2007

When I popped this CD into my Saturn, I was pumped. Yes, I was looking forward to playing Street Fighter: The Movie. I mean, finally, a video game that gives me the opportunity to play as Kylie Minogue! So, as I pass the title screen and enter Movie Battle mode, I was ready to rock out with her. However, once the first "cutscene" (a still picture from the movie and some text) was finished, I was stuck in a fight controlling Jean-Claude Van Damme. I was bummed out... for a few seconds. The...
Revolution X (Genesis)

Revolution X review (GEN)

Reviewed on June 26, 2007

The New Order Nation is ruining everything, attempting to put an end to anything resembling fun. So, as this oppressive army slowly tries to take over the world, what devastating thing do they do next? Kidnap the President of the United States? Invade and take over countries? Threaten everyone with nuclear weapons? Nope, it's much, much worse than all of that. Brace yourselves... they abduct Aerosmith. Oh my God, it's on now. Of course, you just happen to be at the club where they were ab...
Die Hard Arcade (Saturn)

Die Hard Arcade review (SAT)

Reviewed on June 18, 2007

It's quiet. Too quiet. As your red battleship sits at the very top of the screen doing nothing, the rest of the watery field that takes up most of the screen... also has nothing going on with it. But then you look at the sonar and see a bunch of dots arriving from the left and right side of your screen. Seconds later, white submarines pop up and start launching torpedoes to the surface. Obviously, this is the point where you counterattack by throwing depth charges into the sea. It starts off a b...
Bug! (Saturn)

Bug! review (SAT)

Reviewed on June 04, 2007

There was something oddly familiar about BUG! when I played it for the first time. It reminded me of another game. But as I made my way through the first area, going in and out of the background on a maze-like, narrow path, I couldn't put my finger on it. I just kept going through these long acts, collecting blue crystals scattered everywhere, jumping on top of various bugs with unusual designs (one's outer skin falls down when you attack him, revealing his boxers), and venturing into sim...

Super R.C. Pro-Am (Game Boy)

Super R.C. Pro-Am review (GB)

Reviewed on May 21, 2007

Radio-controlled cars are fun little gadgets, you can drive them under normal cars, try performing stunts by going up a ramp and over pits, and freak out your family pet with one, among other things. So, of course, a game where you use a R.C. car in a race against others through hazardous courses sounds pretty cool, doesn't it? Unfortunately, despite cramming Super R.C. Pro-Am with a whole bunch of stuff, Rare manages to make one bland title.
Crack Down (Genesis)

Crack Down review (GEN)

Reviewed on May 14, 2007

At the beginning of the 21st century (we're a long way from that), an Artificial Life System was created. Of course, it didn't take long for some crazy doctor to use this system in an attempt to take over the world. Obviously, the government weren't having any of this. So, they send two special service agents, dressed in awesome spandex clothing, to destroy the heavily-guarded facility with guns and special (normal) time bombs. Their names? Ben and Andy. And you know with names like that, a whol...

Virtua Tennis 3 review (X360)

Reviewed on April 22, 2007

The first time I played Virtua Tennis 3, I wasn't that thrilled with it. I avoided the World Tour mode and went straight to an exhibition match to get a good feel of the gameplay. Well, after about three or four matches... I was bored, and I was just about to give up on the game at that point. And it's not due to it being a tennis game, where you basically hit a ball back and forth, because I enjoyed Table Tennis. It's just... you can pretty much figure out how most of your opponents play...

Need for Speed: Most Wanted review (X360)

Reviewed on April 17, 2007

Most Wanted has a lot going for it when you play it for the first time. Of course, you'll be doing a lot of street racing in this game, but the developers actually tried interesting ways to spice them up. In the Speed Trap races, making it to the finish first ain't gonna cut it. With speed traps scattered throughout these courses, you have to build up as much speed as possible as you go through them, because when you make it to the end, they'll all be tallied up and compared to your oppon...

Clockwork Knight 2 (Saturn)

Clockwork Knight 2 review (SAT)

Reviewed on March 18, 2007

Saving the princess (again) ain't an easy job, and you realize this when taking your toy knight, Pepperouchau, through a bathroom stage in Clockwork Knight 2. As you ride on Barobaro, your nearsighted donkey, through puddles of water and on a narrow track, your toy opponents do everything they can to assure you won't make it to the stage's end. Octopuses riding on boats will come at you up ahead, while knight helmets running on beach balls will charge from behind, ensuring that you'll hav...

Hang On GP (Saturn)

Hang On GP review (SAT)

Reviewed on March 10, 2007

Handling in Hang On GP is.... interesting. When you make a turn at a corner, your entire motorcycle will kiss the pavement in a millisecond. This wouldn't be much of a bad thing if you were actually turning that hard, but the thing is, you're not actually turning that hard. What may look like a hard turn on screen is actually something more of a normal turn, where you just move along a little bit. Of course, this is problematic when going through a bunch of corners in a race, due to the f...
CrimeWave (Saturn)

CrimeWave review (SAT)

Reviewed on March 06, 2007

Crime has gotten out of hand in the city of Mekeo, making the mayor resort to replacing the normal police force with bounty hunters. You are one of these bounty hunters, and your job is to drive around town in a souped-up "police car", find criminals, and blow them up on the spot. That's basically what you do in CrimeWave, and even though it's a simple premise, things get really heated at times. As you attempt to hunt down these criminals in an overhead perspective, catching up to them wi...
