Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond review (X360)Reviewed on May 29, 2011After the disappointment that was Eat Lead, a mundane attempt at video game satire, I really, truly wasn't expecting its sequel to be hot stuff. I started playing it, realized it was a run 'n gun title in the tradition of Contra... and waited. For what? For Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond to suck. |

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard review (X360)Reviewed on May 23, 2011You often find yourself thinking, "Is this a nod to another game, or is Eat Lead unintentionally doing something cliche?" |

Portal 2 review (X360)Reviewed on April 24, 2011So, if Portal is the equivalent to a Pixar short that pops up before a lame Disney movie, then Portal 2 is the full-length Pixar follow-up. |

Assault Suit Leynos 2 review (SAT)Reviewed on April 03, 2011Assault Suit Leynos 2 is still a good purchase for your Sega Saturn, but don't try paying an arm and a leg for a copy expecting some sort of heavenly masterpiece. |

Target Earth review (GEN)Reviewed on March 27, 2011Whenever you think you understand how Target Earth plays, it always seem to do something to slap your ass back to the title screen. |

Astal review (SAT)Reviewed on March 16, 2011Astal is such a disturbingly simplistic side-scroller that, it's hard to believe it was developed by Sega, known for their quality side-scrollers. |

Hard Corps: Uprising review (X360)Reviewed on February 27, 2011Just by looking at one or two images of Hard Corps: Uprising, you can tell it's a product of Arc System Works, or, "those dudes that made Guilty Gear". With 2D graphics, colorful worlds, fluid animation, and characters that could pass for GG fighters, it has a distinct familiarity to it. Hell, Bahamut, the protagonist, could pass for Sol Badguy's long lost brother! |

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit review (X360)Reviewed on February 13, 2011Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is a difficult product to pitch. To NfS, Burnout, and racing fans who haven't played it yet, this really comes off looking like nothing new or stellar. And you know what? They would be correct. For Burnout players, Criterion sets the stage in another fictional location, Seacrest County, and dares its fanbase yet again to make risk-taking the name of the game. If you want to go faster and abuse that boost meter, you gotta drive on the wrong side, nearly rub othe... |

Sega Touring Car Championship review (SAT)Reviewed on January 30, 2011The Saturn has been home to many a racing title, mostly created by Sega's own departments. They all tend to vary in quality, but regardless, each of those titles are memorable for something. Daytona USA, the big one, is a flawed port, but still enjoyable thanks to fun play mechanics, good track design, cool bonuses, and a great, cheesy soundtrack. Sega Rally Championship is known as a solid port, despite suffering from being too much of a straight one. Manx TT has sheep. You get the point. So wh... |

C: The Contra Adventure review (PSX)Reviewed on January 23, 2011This easily could have been an instance of jubilation of multiple satisfactions... had Konami grown a brain. |

Alien Syndrome review (ARC)Reviewed on January 16, 2011When we think about Sega of the 80s, we remember such classics like Space Harrier, Shinobi, OutRun, Phantasy Star, and After Burner; games that helped turn the company into a... temporary powerhouse. However, Sega did release a ton more games during that era, a disturbing amount, at times, and because of that, nearly all of them have been forgotten by the general gaming public. It's only when these games appear in a compilation, or when specific characters make cameos, that people go, "Hey! I re... |

Domino Rally review (WII)Reviewed on January 09, 2011You know those Japanese games with stupid-sounding gimmicks that rarely get released outside their native country, in fear of not selling well? Domino Rally is one such game that made it outside. Judging by the name, you're thinking this is just some domino... rally game. And you'd be sorta right. Domino Rally is about a man, or thing... this superhero, let's say, called Minon. He, or it, wears a yellow track suit, a face mask, and electronic visor with the words "Go! Go!" on it, l... |

Gallery: World Cities review (X360)Reviewed on January 01, 2011When I turned on my Microsoft Xbox 360 entertainment system on December 26, 2010, I was just going to play Pac-Man CE DX. Possibly even some X-Men and Doritos Crash Course. However, my life took an unexpected turn when I decided to browse the Game Marketplace. Typically, I checked the Arcade titles first, to see if any of the new releases were worth throwing away 800/1200 MS Points on. Nothing jumped out. Once exited, I curiously dove into the Indie section, since I haven't been there in eons, i... |

Ghost in the Shell review (PSX)Reviewed on December 22, 2010I'm not a fan of the franchise, with the only real exposure being the egocentric TV series and the last minutes of the first film, but I always thought it would make for some good video game action, especially with its futuristic, cyborg-infested setting. The PlayStation title, in particular, has aroused my interest for the longest time, ever since I saw images for it in GameFAN; mainly, the concept of driving in Fuchikomas, spider-like tanks that can scale walls and ceilings, is what sold me th... |

Sonic Colors review (WII)Reviewed on December 01, 2010The Sonic series has been a mess since Sonic Adventure was released over a decade ago. Now, I don't blame Sonic Team for trying something different in their first, real attempt to bring the series into 3D, however, at the same time, this risk created an identity crisis for the franchise. In nearly every game, there was usually more of something else than what made the Sonic series "Sonic": fishing with a big cat, beating up monsters with a Ristar-wannabe, searching for random emeralds with a con... |

Contra: Legacy of War review (PSX)Reviewed on November 18, 2010Of course, when it came time to make the follow-up, you'd think Konami would have used the same, in-house development team. Instead, they went to an outside studio, Appaloosa Interactive. And boy, they certainly created a legacy... |
