Goodbye Azeroth
March 04, 2007

I pulled the plug on World of Warcraft this morning. I sold my gear, sent the money to some friends, cancelled my subscription, and even deleted my characters so there is no chance for me to go back again.

WOW is a very good game, but I was not having fun anymore. I could play for hours and hours without excitement. It felt more like routine than anything else. I've been getting more enjoyment out of going for high scores on free games, or popping in Guitar Hero for a few songs.

I have a friend who told me this same thing last semester and he's playing WoW right now. Don't be like him.

Ya, I can see why you left. If you're not enjoying a game anymore theres no sence in forcing yourself to play. Though it was pretty depressing in the way I found out about it with you sending some of your stuff to me.

I left EverQuest 2 for much the same reason. I kept my character and all of my stuff though, in case I want to go back.

I never got into WoW. At the urging of some of my friends (first time it was this random dude, 2nd time it was this girl who was probably using me for the free month, haha), I tried it a few times. And I would stay into it for about 3 weeks (both times I got to about level 30), then I just would get bored, and quit. I'll probably eventually try BC... and then leave again in the same way.

My problems with WoW is pretty much the same with every MMORPG, the "real Game"" doesn't start for a long time, till you reach level 60. I can't get into good clans because they don't understand the fact that I like to play lots of games and thus, don't have the time to play WoW like crazy. Repetitive quests, and lots of boring grinding and such. It's an RPG without the stuff I like about RPGs (story, characters).

So in the end, good move. Hopefully you don't get pulled back!
