Lord of the Rings: The Third Age

Has anyone played this game? It is one hell of an incredible game, in my opinion. I am personally biased against LOTR stuff, since the movies are like 3 hours long each and I don't have the patience to watch that kind of fantasy movie for that long.

However, this is more than a LOTR game. I skip all the LOTR movie cutscenes throughout, and I get a basic easy to follow storyline that involve apparently minor characters from the movies. Good enough.

The gameplay is some of the most incredibly addictive stuff I've played, though. I have played about 13 hours the last 2 days, seriously. It has a battle system with FFX-like elements in that there's a battle gauge in the upper right hand corner, and you can switch characters in and out of battle at will. Each character has two separate skill sets, and each time you use a skill you gain 1 point in that skill set. If you unlock enough skill points, you get the next skill on the list. The game even lets you decide what skill you want to learn next, to a certain extent.

The difficulty is a little out of balance, as the game suddenly gets hard at random spots, and a couple of battles have driven me nuts so far, but overall I am totally impressed with this one.

I've played and quite enjoyed it. I prefer the GBA version which is a unique little TBS, though.
