Although I'm really sad now that I played this game for an extended period of time.....

Castlequest

In other news, I'm playing CV: Aria of Sorrow again, as well as Oblivion. Thinking about grabbing a couple of more traditional 360 RPGs. Oblivion's great and all, but kinda exhausting as there are so many flippin' things to do that I feel I'm almost wasting my time playing it if I can't dedicate an entire afternoon/evening to it because I won't get much accomplished.

I've been on a Castlevania high recently, replaying all of the handheld games in the series I own, and Aria was one of the first on my list. It's a good game, and the soul system is still one of the best combat gimmicks this series has seen (from my limited experience), though I'd say that the game is too short, and it's virtually impossible to figure out how to get the "real" ending without consulting a FAQ. I need to review it.

I'd agree with that about Aria. Isn't the gimmick to get the good ending that you have to have three specific souls? Unless the enemies with those souls are triggered to give them up more regularly than the average enemy, that would take a FAQ, as I've noticed that I can go quite some time playing the game before an enemy drops a soul.

Other than that, I like the game from what I've played of it (outside Death's room). They made the seperate regions of this version have a bit more personality than in the other two GBA ones in my opinion. And after you get through the first couple of areas, which are pitifully easy, this game actually offers a bit of a challenge (either that or I'm missing something as I haven't found better armor in some time....which might be why I'm struggling a bit). This game's clock tower actually reminds me of the old-school arcade-style CV games with the spikes and collapsing floors.

But at least in Oblivion you don't have to use stupid boring Metro tunnels because you can't walk down one street without being blocked by rubble.
