Square-Enix just sent a message to Final Fantasy XIV players who still have accounts in the system. As you may recall, the game has been free-to-play since shortly after its launch, which Square-Enix has admitted didn't go as planned. The company is hard at work on a substantial revamp and the game has been free to play for quite some time as a result, but that is ending as work on the revamp continues. Today, Square-Enix outlined the process.

Cartman sets the new kid up with a class (Wizard, Paladin, Adventurer, Rogue, or a fifth class Cartman made up) and he joins a live action role playing game the neighbourhood kids have started which eventually evolves into a real adventure.

Ubisoft says they've figured out how to sell new intellectual properties: the digital marketplace. That must explain why From Dust, the download-only "god game" the publisher released this past summer, is a success. The title has been downloaded 500,000 times on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

Neverdead, the upcoming third-person shooter from Konami, puts players in the shoes of an immortal demon hunter named Bryce Boltzmann. It won't be long before gamers can help Bryce slay monsters either, with Konami's recent announcement that the game would be shambling its way onto store shelves January 31st, 2012.

Hajime Tabata is the director for both Final Fantasy Type-0 and The 3rd Birthday, the latter of which is the third entry in the Parasite Eve franchise. It would seem Tabata has not yet tired of Aya Brea, the series' protagonist, as he's expressed an interest in continuing her story even further.

According to CD Projekt CEO Marcin Iwinski, after checking some illegal download sites, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been pirated about 4.5 million times. He added "As of today we have sold over one million legal copies, so having only 4.5 - 5 illegal compies for each legal one would be not a bad ratio."
